It has a more “hack” look than heat shrink or better yet just replacing the wire. Wire is readily available and cheap. It works but over time the adhesive gets really gummy and can become less like adhesive and more like…grease. It probably will work in many cases but it kind of screams “HACK!”.
Not that I would know from using it in the past or anything.
