Any point in getting Bogner Helios?

I mostly play Cameron CCV. I do a lot of live shows. Any of you have CCV and Helios? Is there a whole different Marshall kind of vibe going on with Helios? I really like what I'm hearing in YouTube clips. I don't feel CCV is limited, but I kind of feel that it gets sounding too much "overproduced". I'd like to go to more aggressive and opened, fuller at less gain sound.

I was considering Friedman stuff and I think Smallbox would be my second choice.

I do have two Superleads, but they are, as you know, stupid loud.

I'd appreciate all suggestions, I live in Europe (outside of EU) and all of these amps are really hard to pass by and try out. I know CCV damn well as a reference.

Thanks

The Helios is a great amp...for what it does.
Your CCV with clipping switches and the style switch will roar much the same, but better.
I brought my Helios over to a buddys house and his Friedman BE 100 had better low end and more to offer.

More aggressive and opened, fuller at less gain sound: you might just want a stock 2203 or 2204.

The Helios is a killer amp, but at the end of the day, it's a one trick pony. Killer tone, however.

That said, I could nail the same tones with my Splawn Competition, at 1/3 of the price, so off it went. Couldn't justify the value to feature/tones/price. The Competition, on the other hand, was a STEAL at $900 and like new.

i would hold off even if you want one. i bet prices dip when the new model comes out.

Couldn't agree more. Had a Helios 100 and a Pro Stock. Sold the Helios as I found the Pro Stock better value. I still loved the Helios, but couldn't justify keeping it when I had the Pro Stock.

Cheers.

It's just not a cost-effective amp, period. $2849 new for the 50, and just south of $2000 used, I (personally), can't justify it. I understand, to some that "Bogner", means quality, which this amp certainly is. But,(IMO), it's not worth the price-tag. "Hand-wired" is the only justification I could see in asking such a price, but I still don't think it's worth it. I'd still buy a Splawn. If I insisted on spending Helios money, I'd look at a used 101B, or, personally, save a ton and buy another used Splawn.

The Splawn had the 70's mode at 1st gear, 80's mode in 2nd, and footswitchable. I found them nearly identical, with the Splawn being more aggressive.

Yup. Completely agree!
