Dual or Triple Rectifier for me?

The time has come to get my first Mesa Rectifier. I've been using the Mark IV for years.

I'm into Mark Tremonti's rhythm tone, and I know he uses Triple Rectifiers + Uberschall.

I can't decide between the Triple or Dual, mostly because of the wattage. 150 vs 100 watts.
I don't play arenas, just at really small bars.

Should I just get the Triple Rectifier?

I have a dual and triple rectifier. for that huge thick recto sound, I really suggest the triple over the dual. It has more headroom and just does the recto sound better than the dual. But you really have to have the "oversized recto cab for that sound, or at least a 4x12 cab with V30's

Thanks man, that's right, the Rectifier Cab has its role in the Tremonti tone.

Should I not worry about the 100 vs 150 wattage difference then?
Like I said, I play in small bars generally small gigs.

I would get a dual rectifier, if you are playing small gigs and bars. Triple rectifiers have a weird volume jump, that goes from a quiet volume to a really loud volume. A couple weeks ago I used the triple rectifier in a concert, and the sound guys kept asking to turn it down, if you want your amp to be cranked at gig, get the dual rectifier, they both sound practically identical.

I remember reading a thread that the Rectifiers real world output is rated lower than their marketed power rating, as per Steve Fryette I believe...

As in a Dual only puts out 70 something watts, and the Triple 108...

So get the Triple if you want as much head room as possible before you hit that infamous "wall" where the transformers start saturating.

Now that I think about it I wonder if an aftermarket tranny would help with that...

I would go for the triple 2010 model better and bigger bottom end and more head room than the dual ,plus When I would play smaller areas I would hide my rig behind the pa so as not to hit the sound guys in the face with it. Your rig is to heard not seen unless your are in a place to do so. By doing this you are able to open it up alot more to get the power section going.

Just my 2 cents from years of playing.

I would get a Dual Rack mount one first choice, or a newer Triple second choice
