To move the stones overland, the Egyptians would have used large sledges that could be pushed or pulled by gangs of workers. The sand in front of the sledge was likely dampened with water, something that reduced friction, making it easier to move the sledge, a team of physicists from the University of Amsterdam found in a study published in 2014 in the journal Physical Review Letters.

Most Egyptologists agree that when the stones arrived at the pyramids, a system of ramps was used to haul the stones up. However, Egyptologists are uncertain how these ramps were designed. Little evidence of the ramps survives, but several hypothetical designs have been proposed over the last few decades.

Interesting. I wonder if materials that would have been used in the construction were later used to build the surrounding village areas?

This is one of those things Egyptologists argued about for a long time, not bothering to ask the actual workers in the area, who still dampen the sand to move heavy things across it. Then instead of Egyptologists. Sure someone in the West published a paper and took the credit for it, but again people skip the actual workers when trying to figure things out, yet again! (Also, drawings show sprinklers being used, which were assumed as just ceremonial for a long time, but turns out were practical also.....most/many ceremonies starting out as practical applications.)

Still cool though. Heck, I just visited Cahokia Mounds in the US last weekend, and there's no huge mystery there....but still all that dirty hauled with baskets by hand is pretty damn impressive.

They just discovered another set of Chevron blocks above the main entrance causing a previously unknown void. New technology is still being used today to reveal the true blueprint of the structure. The "air shafts" coming from the chambers inside were found to connect to the pits around the the pyramid. They amplify sound from the chambers to the outside so that efforts can be synchronized during the building process. The great pyramid is the first ever amplifier.

The construction of the Pyramids is said to be a mystery, but we all know better, right? The real mystery to me is this pedal laden with pyramid art. Born of forum trolls, this haunting mids fuzz contains all of the terrible and dark secrets to tone. If you would like to know it's secrets, then in a few paragraphs or less tell us all how the pyramids were built and you may very well find out. Be serious or have fun with your answer, you never know.

Pyramids? Easy. Dinosaurs. They controlled dinosaurs and could also negate gravity. They mostly rode the Dinos for fun. Who wouldn't?

"I AM FUZZ GOD OF EGYPT" is so much cooler on top of a 'little foot'

CLOSED to new entries. Thanks to those who participated. Will be announcing winner soon!

This contest is going to be a little more challenging than the last two, so pay attention. The last two contests had a few entries that weren't in line with the format, I will let them slide for points towards future contests (this time only), but cannot award a win in those or this contest without an entry in the proper format as it's not fair to the people who did paid attention. I'm going to give this contest a little more time than before and your entries into this one are due (POST HERE: https://www.rig-talk.com/forum/threads/free-guitar-contest-giveaway-part-i.265606 no later than Friday, March 31 at 11am US Pacific time.

Winner announced and contacted by April 5th. The winner of this contest will be chosen in a closely guarded manner that involves the community with the details on how released after the contest closes. (it's fair and fun, I promise). THIS CONTEST IS THE FIRST OF A FEW GUITARS, SO DON'T FRET WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SAY; I WILL ONLY BE SHIPPING THIS GUITAR TO THE U.S., BUT YOU CAN STILL ENTER IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S. AND INSTEAD WIN A $200 USD GIFT CARD TO MF, GC, THOMANN, REVERB or whatever is popular in your area that accepts paypal. Any winner outside of the US will also get an extra $25 gift card for every contest they entered by closing time prior to the beginning of this one (currently 2 for a maximum of an extra $50).

I'm not looking for headaches for me or anyone, and because this guitar is MIJ I'm not going to ship outside of US as I'm not familiar with everyone's import regulations for Japanese products that are on my list. Please don't throw hate, I have US guitar(s) that will be available for winning outside of the US in the near future. Please don't post in this thread or message me about it or try to convince me,you're wasting your breath. I may change this in the future after personally researching. I will also donate the guitar locally if the winner of this contest is outside of the US, so it's getting a new home no matter!

READ AGAIN: USA= WIN GUITAR, ELSEWHERE=$200USD or possibly more gift card.
