Seems like I might be an elder statesman here.
62, almost 63!

Grew up on my folks' 50's music (Dad saw Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, all live).
I'm never not amazed that my parents literally witnessed and were a part of the birth of rock and roll!! *swoon*

I'm a child of the 70's and 80's.
Pretty much tuned out of popular music when grunge destroyed my beloved hair-metal bands.
I now know what disco freaks felt about we metalheads.
Yeah, Village People, I KILLED DISCO!!! 🤘

I want that on my tombstone, btw. 😁

In hindsight, I missed out on some GREAT music!
Chris Cornell just BLOWS MY MIND!
What a voice!! What soul!
I'm now digging on Velvet Revolver, STP, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog...

Anyway, I'm still rockin', still playing, endeavoring to write songs and learn how to play guitar... still...

Still chasing tone (as was Les Paul, btw.)
I love that, when his Sister asked what "sound" he was looking for he answered, "I don't know. I haven't found it yet."

Eh, different strokes.
It's all sophomoric to me.
No melody, no harmony, no chord changes, NO CHORDS, filled with non-rhyming "rhymes" over a bad fake drum beat.

Compared to the virtuoso musicianship and compositions that we grew up with?

F'get about it!

Welcome. Not too far behind you, my parents were big into The Beatles, The Stones, John Denver, Judy Collins, PP&M, Simon and Garfunkle, James Taylor, etc. Feel the same on the death of hair bands but I embraced grunge and moved on. My Audioslave CD has been in my truck for the last 2 weeks.
