Line 6 HX vs M5 (Sound Quality)

I already have a M5 and was considering updating to the HX effects. Two questions:

Did they actually update the quality of the effects for the HX series that are also in the original M series?
I plan on doing a 4CM and might want some of the effects in the front and some in the loop. I assume this is possible?

My understanding is yes, and they also added all the M series effects as "Legacy " effects.

Yep, it’s got the higher quality Helix stuff and the legacy effects from the POD HD/M Series effects which is great because that old Tube Driver model was absolutely killer.
