Hey dudes,

Here are the pictures of the transformers from the used JMP I had asked about before, just to recap, this was a very non original JMP 50W, $1700 that my RT brothers helped determine all the mods and changes. Many of you asked for transformer pics and here they are. Let me know your thoughts on this amp. I hope to play it tomorrow

thank you so much for all the help, you guys rock!

personally for that price, I would probably send these pictures to david friedman right now. Tell him you are about to buy it. Ask him how much to put it back to stock. If anything jumps out to him, he may tell you not to buy it. If not you will have a bid on how much to make it stock if you don't love the mods. Then Go play that fucking thing at turn it up. Play it at least 5 minutes hard to see if there are any volume drops or anything weird happening. Then depending on gut, buy the damn thing and send it to Friedman and you will probably still come out cheaper than buying a jmp unmolested, and you will have the friedman stamp of approval and him having gone through the damn thing.

Those transformers are original. For that price, I'd grab it and don't look back. You can always buy some vintage Mustards and swap them in to see if you like the difference; the Orange drops seem to add in a 'hi fi' thing to a Marshall circuit..you may like it better that way.

+1

thanks guys I get a 45 day return policy BTW! I honestly am more of a player, if it sounds like a roaring old marshall then I give no fucks about the frankenstine insides, I just dont want to end up paying some crazy price and then getting screwed later on, thanks to all who chimed in
Only thing I’d look at changing is the bias caps, they should be 10 uf but they’re 10mf. Other than that, great buy for that price.

I don’t know 50/50 on the transformers being original. When I see zip ties all over the place, makes me question things. But at $1700 if it sounds good, it has already had most everything else changed, buy it and play it.

They changed it from a model 1987 plexi style circuit to a 2204 circuit. Coupling caps in the phase inverter are bigger than stock, otherwise it looks pretty close to a stock 2204. Looks like many parts have been changed, but the values I can see look to be stock. Nothing crazy there.

Prepare to wait 6 months to a year to get your amp looked at by Dave. He’s always swamped with work. If it were me I’d find someone else to put it back to stock.

That is probably true. I know one time i emailed him at like 2 am, and 3 mins later he responded. Real pleasant guy. Seems like he really enjoys all things amps

The stamps on them indicate they are original...unless someone faked them. Not impossible though. But the wiring is definitely messed with.

Thanks Jerry, how are you man?
