Hi all,

I hope a few guys here can help me out choosing which speakers I should select for an empty 1960A (jcm900) and 1960B (jcm800). I am a pure hobby room player, playing 90's alternative rock and metal mostly. I already have a 1960A (jcm800) V30 x CL80 in X-pattern which is my favorite cab right now.

I have at my disposal:

3x greenback (Chinese, but a few years old)
2x V30 (one older, one Chinese very new, not broken in)
7x G12T75 (all pretty old and broken in)
1x Classic Lead 80 (few years old)
and also these which I actually don't like:
1x G12-80 old
2x G12M70 (but 1x seems to be reconed with a G12-50 cone?)

I am thinking now:
1960A: G12T75 x Greenbacks in X-pattern
1960B: G12T75 x V30 in X-pattern

What do you think?
Thanks!

Try Greenbacks.. but you'll need a fourth one, or just chuck in one of the V30's on the bottom if the ohmage is the same.
OR, (if ohmage is the same), try X/Y with 2 Greenbacks and 2 x V30's.

I would chose 2 greenbacks at the top, and the V30s at the bottom, but for bedroom use the above might be better.

Are your Greenbacks 25w and the V30's 60watt?

 Forgot to mention that indeed all speakers are 16 Ohm.

Yes, my greenbacks are 25W and the V30 are 60W, and all 16 Ohms. Which cab do you think would be best for a 4x greenback, the straight or the angled cab?

If your gt-75s are older I would try 2 on the bottom and 2 greenbacks on top. Older 75s sound greenbackish to me..I think that would be a nice mix. I think 75s are more efficient so they might overpower the greenbacks, hence putting the gbs on top...

75s are more efficient than the Heritage G12Ms but the Chinese ones are actually 1 db more efficient than 75s. At least according to Celestion's ratings. That should be a good mix. The 75s will fill out the bottom very top and the greenies will punch right through the middle filling that mid space. I do a mix of G12-65s (kind of Greenbackish character) with T75s and in my 1960A in an X pattern and it sounds huge.

I love my all Greenie 1960B. The 1960A with Greenies and V30's X'ed is pure rock as well.

Personally, if I had what you have to work with, I would drop 3 Greenies in the B and add the V30 in an open bottom spot.

I really liked the above mentioned
2 v30's on bottom
2 greenbacks on top
Sounds great to me !!!

I have an ubercab 2 v30's 2 gt75's in x and I do not like it at all ?
Best of luck !!

Thx!

OK, I think I made up my mind to go with the 1960B 3x greenbacks (trying to find a 4rth) and 4xG12T75 in the 1960A. That way I can evaluate the G12T75's, the greenback's and connect both cabinets to evaluate the combination. I am very curious haw the greenbacks turn out in the 1960B.

I was wondering if there are other people out there that dislike the 1960B for having a too pronounced bass resonance compared to the 1960A?
