Question About Edwards Guitars

A thread about the Edwards "Blackmore" guitar caused me to think about that company. Do they really call their models by the name of the artist--or do they just copy the obvious cosmetics of a particular guitar and everyone knows who's guitar they are copying and then people start calling the guitar by that guy's name?

For example, I often see reference to a "John Sykes" model Edwards guitar and Edwards has never contacted John about his endorsement. John had never heard of Edwards until we saw one on eBay last spring. He was scratching his head as to how his name could be used to sell their new guitars.

They don't use the player's names in the model name. The Blackmore one is called the E-SE-108RE. I had an Edwards Michael Schenker Flying V and I believe the model name was E-FV-95 or something.
