Hiya'all ...

Strymon El Capistan <=> Mark V FX Loop

When connected this way, the repeats are very low in volume no matter where Mix is set ... can't get them to be even close to unity with dry signal.
When plugged in front of the amp, it works perfectly fine and as expected.
Dry signal sounds fine and the unit does not seem to be clipping. FX loop is working fine, I checked with other pedals and rack units.

Anyone else experienced this or any clue as to why it might be happening?

Thanks!

I've found the El Cap works better in front of the amp rather than the loop. I remember reading here or on another forum that analog delays tend to perform better in front vs. in the loop, whereas digital delays tend to perform better in the loop. I've tested the "theory" and would have to agree.

the El Capistan is digital though ;)

No shit?! LOL.... Here I thought it was analog. Guess me subscribing to the aforementioned "theory" is horse rubbish! At any rate, I find the El Cap is better in front than in the loop as well.

I also have the Source Audio Nemesis on my board which I run through the loop and it sounds/works great. Why two digital delays vary that widely in performance, I don't know. Weird. :dunno:

Signal level is to hot for the El Cap. Also it has a analog dry path.

Yeah that seems to be the case ... thanks for chiming in Dave, much appreciated!

El Cap is not really a "loop" pedal...does much better out front when used like the machines that it emulates.

Yeah agreed, I always had it in front but switching things around and was hoping it would work in the loop.
