This other Flyback Protection..

Instead of 3-1KV Diodes like in a TW, there's 1-3KV, cool. But then there's the addition of a 47pfd Cap across it.
What does the cap do in this arrangement?

I'm no EE but wouldn't it be to prevent voltage from traveling back to the output transformer? Flyback?

IF you don't have a load connected and then play with the volume up, the voltage skyrockets and you fry the Output Transformer..
The Diodes are supposed to conduct and bleed off that voltage. I guess the Caps help to smooth out the changes on voltage, but I can't get anyone to completely explain it.

Agreed. It seems that some of those build forums had their hey day and now the left over members are jaded and it's not fun for them anymore..
