Tourmaster power-transformer redesigned?

As my PT went down recently, I read somewhere that the "Power Plant" for Tourmaster had been redesigned after the very first run? Nate had mentioned it to me, last year, as well. If this is true, how would I determine if my amp is one of the first runs? I assume it is, just curious. Serial number? This is very good news to me, as should be for others on here, who've had the same misfortune! 30+ years of playing and never came across an amp with such tone and features as the Tourmaster! Not willing to give up on it anytime soon over a first-run quality issue!

It's a great amp- I kind of miss mine in certain ways. I think it has been around at least 4 years (I had mine for three) so if yours is newer then that it probably already is redesigned. I would send them the serial number and see what they say if you don't know. Some of the earlier ones- like the one I had- have a handwritten "M" on the serial number which means that they were modified after manufacture but before shipping. I don't know if that was the power transformer or someo other modification. You might check for that.

My "M" was also hand-written. It isn't a recent one. Bought in early 2010, and it was a display-model at AmpLounge, so pretty sure it's first-run. Pre-amp boards are all 08', rev. 1.6 and power board is rev. 1.5. Was just relieved to here that they may have redesigned the PT. Gonna be gigging regularly with mine $$$$. Tubes aren't a problem, and certainly NOTHING to do with Bruce's stuff, just can't be shelling-out $300.00+ every other month on a PT, ya know? I believe the "M" mod was a few caps to tighten up the low-end response.

The "M" mods had nothing to do with the transformer. But yes, there was a first run issue that has been addressed. The newer design for the transformer is much more reliable, so no worries about a repeat. E-mail nate@egnateramps.com, to arrange a new transformer. He will likely need a couple things, like your serial number as well.

Shoot an e-mail to nate@egnateramps.com, and he might be able to help you with the date code question. I honestly don't deal with the date codes, so I don't know off hand how they work on that amp.

Thanks Ian! Nate's got me taken care of already, new PT should be here any day now.

just an update: New PT arrived, transplant went well, ran her for six hours without a hitch! Gig in two days. Can't wait! Boy, forgot how much I loved the CLN/VNT 2 channel ("DELUXE" all the way)

I miss my Tourmaster in certain ways, although I really like the Renegade 2 X 12. The Tourmaster's second channel was the BEST, particularly with my 335! Very smokey and cool.
