Hi all,

I have a very strange problem with my Einstein, which occurs sporadically. Driving me nuts!

Two weeks ago, I gigged with my Einstein and at the end of the show, my sound died on me. No hiss, no hum, no static. Just silence. Luckily, this was at the end of the last song; our other guitarist finished for me.

Tried it again at home: no problems! I gigged with the Einstein after that (2 times) and rehearsed a couple of times, and again: no problems. So I took it to rehearsal last night and my sound died on me again, but only for a second or so. Happened twice; one silence shortly after the other. After that, it was ok again.

It's driving me nuts! It happened with different guitars and different cables. The only other constant is my pedalboard, which is connected to the serial loop. Every time it died on me, I didn't touch the pedal board, though.. Cables are fine, guitars are fine. Amp seems fine also; bias is correct, tubes are fine. As I stated: no hiss or hum from my amp.

Anyone here experienced the same thing? Or has some idea of what might be causing the problem? Is it my Einstein?

Thanks!
Robert

First..... welcome to the Forum ;)

Please remove the pedal board and check it out again.

Do You have a strange sound like You stated in the topic
or no sound ?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter! Thanks for the word of welcome.. ;)

For the brief moments I mentioned, I had NO sound. I will try without the pedalboard. If I understand you correctly, you don't think there's something wrong with my Einstein.. ?

I meant to say in the topic subject: I have a strange problem, concerning sound. :)

Thanks .... please try the pedalboard to take out
of the signal chain and let me know

I had a similar problem. When playing the sound nearly disappeard and went back to normal within a second. Did that a few times.
It turned out to be a faulty tube in the loop return driver. I think it is used as a cathode follower with pretty high cathode to ground potential. Especially russian tubes seem to have a problem with that. (I used a Tung-Sol ECC83 in that pos btw)
Please replace the tubes with known good ones. If the problem arises again, you can exclude the tubes...

Best,
Stefan

Hey thanks for that info! Which one is the tube I should be looking at?

I'm guessing preamp tubes, happened to me. Sound faded in and out. Replaced preamp tubes problem solved.
