What guitars do you play your Diezel with?

I was watching that lil Fokker demo and the 'weird' guitar the bloke was playing and it got me thinking, what guitars do you folks like playing with your Diezels, which styles of music, which Diezel (or if you prefer that guitar with a different amp?!) and why? Obviously if you have hundreds your favourite 3 will do fine. I'm not just after epic ownership lists! Thought it would make an interesting thread since if you own a Diezel you're probably not playing budget guitars, and probably are thinking a little more out the box than just fender/Gibson copies. Would be nice to have some of the more varied ones than just 7-string metal machines too (although don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a good few of them and nice fancy classics too)! Nice pics too if you got em. :)

Go...

My top guitars include:
an SG carved Top:

a Guitterez custom:

I have 3 Peavey HP Specials; here's the best of the bunch:

but honestly most of my playing is through a relatively inexpensive Epiphone Les Paul Gothic 7string and a Gibson Studio Gothic.
I keep the good looking ones in the cases most of the time out of fear

Nice. Is that SG a Gibson one or a copy? Why d'you like the peaveys and Gutierrez? (Apart from they look fucking great!). What is it about the cheaper ones that make those your go-to guitars except for the fact you care less if you bugger them up?

Not many of the guitar shops round here tend to stock a great deal I'm interested in, hence me needing some guitar porn with descriptions. :)

It's a Gibson from 2009-ish. They released a similar looking model last year, specs looked close but the list was way cheaper on that one
A buddy of mine had one of those Red Gibson Diablo SGs from around 2007. The sound was awesome and the neck is the fastest I ever played- I can just play better & faster on the SG than any other guitar. Arpeggios just fly off the fretboard. The maple top gives a nice sheen to the notes too. I'm not sure how the more traditional SGs play, but these Diablo & Carved Tops are outstanding. I found my SG on this site used for a great price.

Why d'you like the peaveys and Gutierrez?
I snagged a Wolfgang locally off Craig's list. I loved it so much I started to look into the Peavey HP Specials, which is the guitar Peavey made after Wolfgang left to another company. The HP is real similar to the Wolfgang, but has a slightly faster neck, an innovative optional tremolo lock system, and a few other minor changes that really make it enticing. The HPs were built in the same place by the same builders that produced the Wolfgang. Very sad they closed down just a few years later. Awesome guitars. I have 3 of them! They seem to possess a nice hybrid of tones from Les Pauls and Strats. Thick response of a LP with a slight twang of the longer scale. The neck is my favorite- it just fits me perfectly. Used HPs (if you can still find them) are a fantastic deal.

The Guiterrez was a case of right place right time. An ad here led me to a local studio where the owner needed some quick cash. In many ways it's my best axe- it is so clear and delivers huge quality on recordings. The play-a-bility is extraordinary. It has some kind of neck patent that makes it really stable, allowing you to try different tunings with little effect on the neck. I would consider getting another down the road- and now see the benefits in getting a custom made instrument.

I think trying different guitars/necks is the key. I had an Yngwie strat that sounded soooo good, but I just couldn;t gel with the neck- I couldn't pull off my tough runs on that guitar. The Wolfgang/HP neck really speaks to me, but others may be repelled. Once you find the neck you like, you can look at a pro setup and perhaps a pickup change.
If you're having trouble finding quality guitars on your area, you may have to buy used and keep flipping until you figure it out.
Good luck!

My Suhr Modern

I had to sell a couple of guitars to buy it, but it has a fairly broad range of tones for a 24 fret mahogany super strat. I jam along to tracks from my old bands. These have ranged from Metal to Pop to Indie to Electro Hip Hop. Lots of cleans, creamy leads & tight, bright rhythms.
The VH4 is a pretty versatile amp in that respect. It's just a really solid & reliable platform that takes FX well & comes into its own with overdrive & compression. It's justifiably a contender for greatest amplifier of all time imo.

If I had some disposable cash, I'd probably invest in a Les Paul with some slightly lower output pickups. It's kinda cliche, but I think the Les Paul really does have the best natural tone of any guitar on the market. Super-strats can sound a bit clinical, but the Suhr guitars have quite a woody & natural voice to them which helps tick a few boxes. That said, every guitar has its own voice. I don't entirely buy into the expensive tone wood philosophy. Some unlikely, relatively budget guitars can play & sound great.

Nice! Yeah, I'm not looking to buy a guitar at the mo btw. Just geeking at them. I'm skint at the mo, and bought another Parker the end if last year along with some other pedal toys. I love my Parkers, but great to hear why other people love theirs as some day when I have more cash I'll obviously get another. Someone I know has a Peavey and a Suhr but I've never played them. Might have to go pay them a visit. We've been talking about a guitar geek day one weekend for ages. :)

These 4 Gibsons into my VH4:

2011 Traditional plus - 2008 Standard Faded - 2008 Push Tone (guitar of the month limited series) - 2012 Traditional 1960 Zebra (Häussel 1959 pickups)

Is it just nice to have 4 different ones or are those LPs quite different sounding due to pickups/wood/etc? Similar neck profiles?

PRS Custom 24 with custom designed Seymour Duncan pickups
Used to love PRS. Had 3 CE24s (still can't understand why anyone would make a electric guitar without a 2 full octave range i.e. enter CE24) and they were my first introduction into the world of fine electric guitar's. I just wish Sir Paul would take a basic physics course and realize that pups mounted to trampolines just don't work for good electric guitar tone and sweet sustain. EVH had it right back in '78 when he ripped out the pups on his '62 Strat and mounted them directly to the body (Fuselage).

They are different. 2 are chambered, while the other 2 are not. 2 have the 60's; 2 have the 50's neck. The pickups are also different: The Traditional 1960 has a set of Häussel 1959 pickups (best PAF's I ever played); the Standard Faded has a set of Gibson Burstbuckers pro; the Traditional Plus has a set of Gibson 57; and the Push Tone (has a system that allows for pickup change in a minute) - so for that one I have a set of Burstbuckers pro, a set of Gibson P94 and a set of Seymour Duncans (custom 5 and 59).

Herbert loves everything I throw at it. Consistently sounds killer and from my experience doesn't require too much tweaking.

I use a few different guitars...Suhr Modern, PRS Custom 24, Gibson Explorer (customized by Spawn Guitars of FL). The PRS is dropped D tuned. The Modern is Mahogany body/neck with maple top, vulcanized maple neck, and has a locking trem. The Explorer has Duncan SH6 pickups in it, locking tuners and some custom bodywork. They all work very well without having to tweak the amp. Same settings for each guitar and I get a great tone from any of them.

I have other guitars and will use them as well, however those are the current live guitars. I am playing what I would classify as "hard rock." Currently doing a Scorpions tribute, so that's not super heavy, more channel 2 on Herbert, with some cleans in there too. Previous cover band was everything from current rock (Metallica's Cyanide or Volbeat) to older AIC and 80's fun stuff (Ratt and STP).

Personally, I love Herbert in ALL situations. Very versatile amp that can cover many bases. I have had it modded a bit...just so I have access to more sounds, not to change the amp, that would be ridiculous. Diezel's are already midi controllable, so I just wanted to be able to control ALL of Herbert's sounds/controls via midi. That just makes it more versatile with more options.

But I digress, who else loves them Diezel's and what your guitar of choice??

Great axes here! But JimmyBlind, that Suhr is something that would make me play something else besides a Les Paul... Amazing top and details!

Can one get that in a fixed bridge version?

i use alot of guitars with my diezels.
mostly guitars with emg pickups, esp hetfield and hammett models, kenneth lawrence explorer, gibson zakk wylde les pauls.
those are my favorite guitars for playing metal or anything heavy.

when im not doing metal i use my les pauls with passives, mostly 59 reissues with burstbucker or duncan pickups.

i used to have a suhr modern that had aldridge pickups and it sounded awesome with the vh4.

Thanks man! She's a keeper! :)

I think they do a hipshot hardtail option. The rest are Gotoh 510 & Gotoh Floyds.
