Wizard loops

Do you guys need to link the loop with a patch cable to use the loop as an extra MV? My MCII can do this without a cable, but my MC50 needs a cable.

Anyone has an idea why theres a difference?

Also my mc2 has a little more noise in the loop that the mc50.. What loop tubes do you use?

Seems to be nothing wrong with my tube..

bbaug14, would you do me the favour and check it you can run your loop as a 2nd MV without a cable patching send and return together?

You shouldn't need to do that. Change the tube. I think the regular JJ ecc83 was the quietest.

Mine works without the patch. Like I said, I run a 12AY7. I found that 12AX7s (tried many, including stock JJ of course) add some tube clipping that didn't sound bad, but didn't work well for my application. I don't leave the loop on all the time, so I wanted to be able to switch the loop in and out without impacting tone at all. The NOS 12AY7 I'm using does that for me.
