Well.... I just came up for air. Recorded a little classic rock thing. This is a pure classic rock machine! Exactly what I wanted! I'm gonna record a bunch of clips, but here is the first. Guitar -> Bottle Rocket -> Royer R-121 -> Great Rivers Pre -> DAW. No EQ, no nothing... Not trying to match the original, just got a tone and played this...

Buy guys - gotta get back to her!

Alright Now

Damn. That's better than sliced bread & ball bearings!

Guitar aside, Bottle Rocket sounds excellent there. No bullshit

That's the only guitar that's as classy as those amps.

Well, that didn't suck...and i didn't even bother putting on the headphones....

That's a nice looking guitar. I'm curious as to why you didn't just buy a R9 outright with the amount of money that you paid for this replica.

Thanks man! I'm really thrilled with the guitar of course, but I'm also really, really happy with the way the Bottle Rocket came out! It can get so heavy (as you hear in my last clip), roll off the guitar volume to a beautiful clean (also in my last clip) and also be dialed in to get really nice classic rock tones with the right guitar/pickups. Really loving the tones I'm getting. Gonna do a bunch more classic rock clips with this guitar.

Thanks man - these Wizz pickups are really nice. The neck pickup sounds phenomenal as well. I'll record some clips of it as well as both pickups. This guitar also has vintage Centralab pots and black beauty caps, which also contribute to the tone of the guitar!

The amp doesn't suck either! ;)

Well, first of all, new R9s with aging can cost as much or more than I paid. Second, my builder uses old growth woods (50 years old or more) of the same types found in original '59 LPs, which the Gibson Custom Shop does not have access to. Third, it is the difference between getting a guitar produced in a factory (even the Custom Shop) by multiple builders trying to make a bunch of guitars vs. a single craftsman building a single guitar at a time by himself, by hand, with the same tools and methods used to build the original '59 LPs. Finally, I got to select the maple top out of bunch of choices, I specified the exact aging level, burst color, weight, neck carve and tone I was looking for and the builder did everything in his power to match that. He did a phenomenal job and I can't imagine having the same experience with an R9, nice as they are. I've owned an R8 and an R9 and I can tell you there is no comparison to this guitar...

Yeah, this last set of shots did the trick (at least for a couple months...). I can play now!

I was jamming some Nazz today after popping an old Super Distortion into my V. How about some Miss Misery on the Bottle Rocket?

Yep, that sounds pretty damned good, Steve. Going to be interesting putting our replicas side by side...yours is aged, mine isn't (on purpose)...so pics side by side will be necessary.

See ya soon!
