This whole Marshall hoopla right now is not just about the JVM. The JVM is meant to go toe to toe against Mesa, ENGL, Soldano, Bogner and any other high option, versatile, clean to super high gain builder out there right now.

The Vintage Modern amp I fell in love with!!!!!! I love the Plexi tone but am always looking for just the right boost to put with any real Plexi, metal panel Super Lead, or my Mojave. This Vintage Modern amp is a killer sounding Plexi with a little more lows available and that right amount of boost is built right into it. I'm telling you guys, Marshall seems to have gone after every niche in the boutique Marshall inspired market.

Gotta love good ol competition. It makes things better for eveyone.

2 different amps IMO Matt... Personally, I want one of each!!! I want Marks for that signature Cameron Tone of the Gods and The JVM because its so friggin Versatile and sounds great on top of it all...

I can't wait for you guys to get it so I can hear some clips!!

With the number of great players that will get the first batch, the full tonal spectrum will be demonstrated IMHO.

I was in the room at NAMM when the JVM and VM was being demo'd. Heck, I came back for the demo another two times over the weekend. I am also a Splawn dealer and have a decent amount of vintage Marshall Super Leads and a JCM800. I also have a Mojave Peacemaker and Splawn Quickrod in my studio.

I won't say the sky is falling for anyone just yet. I didn't play the JVM, just heard it being played by two different players with very different sounding guitars. I haven't put my Splawn or any of my vintage Marshalls up for sale yet.

I will say this...... all these companies and modders existed because Marshall was not actually building the Marshall that people wanted. Thank goodness that Mojave, Germino, Cameron, Splawn, Roccaforte, Cornford, Soldano, Bray, Bogner etc etc existed because for the last 20 years Marshall has been out of the game and out of touch with what players wanted. I think finally Marshall decided they wanted the entire Marshall inspired amp industry back in their pockets.

It's too early to say if they can do it. I have to play the amps and put them in my studio to see if they're worthy. But the fact that I'm even considering putting a production line Marshall in my studio with my boutique and vintage stuff is really saying something.

If I had a Marshall-esque based business right now, I wouldn't panic, but I would be very interested to see what these things sound and feel like.

Nice post and what I am saying as well, marshall has put nothing out there the past 20 years that I like at all and now they seemed to listen to what some of us want.

I never met you but i sure as hell trust your ears. So when you, Ralph, Kage, say the amps sound great then I'm more than confident that they will work for me.

The JVM, 12 footswitchable modes, DAMM. And Ralph is the low volume junkie so if he says it did low volumes well then it just will. When we play amps at his place they HAVE to be very very low or the neighbors might get pissed. My only knock against the QR is that it's just too loud for me, and that was my biggest issue with my Plexi i used for gigs in the 90's. I was fighting with every soundman in every club.

Yay, you will get to hear me do the same damm tapping lick i always do, but on a different amp.

Good to hang with you too Kage!!!!

Look, I'm a dealer so I have a slightly different perspective than some of you. I really like Scott and the Splawn line. I really like Mark Cameron and am excited about his new line. I thought the Splawns were a good deal at $1850.

My opinion is that the entire Marshall-esque amp market has just changed, literally over the last weekend. $3500 for a Bogner? You gotta be kidding me. $3500 for a Soldano? Not a chance. $4000 for a Diezel? or Engl SE? No way! $3000 for a Plexi clone? Not anymore. The entire amp market from this DEALERS eyes is a whole new ballgame.

I spoke to Mark Cameron and his partner Chris at length about the new Cameron line and the price points. The number range they were throwing around at NAMM around would have sounded ok, but not great before NAMM. Now? I'm worried for them. I also think that the Quickrod at $1850 may need to be updated so that all three gears are footswitchable and OD1 and OD2 will need to continue to be footswitchable at least and the price has to stay the same. The Marshall will be $1750 street price.

The main thing is..... if the JVM has 10,000 features but doesn't beat my personal amps at those 1 or 2 great sounds I'm looking for, I'm not interested in it. If it does, everything changes. Boutique builders and their dealers are going to have to adjust if that's even possible.

It was a 50 watt 1968 Shorthead tremolo. I never wanted anyone to touch it. But after i owned it for 4 years the OT blew. :x I had a place called Triple S replace the transformer. And this was probably 1993 or 94, and Andy Fuchs was working there at the time i think, he had a big hand in starting that place.

After that i brought the amp to a guy named heavy Metal Joe who did amp repairs and mods. Ralph and Steve know him. He was the one who designed the JCM900 and Marshall took the design and fucked him over on it, something like that. I had him use the tremolo knob as a master volume. It worked ok but was still pretty loud. Funny thing is, what some people consider bedroom volumes are what soundmen will yank you out of the mix for! :-o

Interesting perspective. I wonder though if Bogner etc will still sell at that and people will buy at that price somee people will think they sound better due to preceived value.

Im talking I can have a conversation over my guitar and if I mic it, you can hear me strumming. At least, thats my definition of bedroom volume. :?

Agreed to all.... as far as that splawn V Cameron thing goes, I cant say a bad thing about Scott and I never have; Camerons just sound alot better to me. Scott must be doing something right because plenty of people buy his amps..

Marshall really raised the bar and its going to be interesting how this affects the competition. I heard Several great sounds out of that JVM( even with Nick Bowcott playing ;), he was a cool guy) and with a digital delay in the loop and a few pedals that I like, I think I could play any gig with that thing...

Did you guys hear the Frost 100? I haven't heard any comments on that amp.

you have to admit though...that's one hideous looking amp
Yeah, I can see where some wouldnt like all those knobs but in the end, I really dont give a damn as long as it sounds good and this amp really sounded that good to me...

If any of the clone makers are going to be pinched by this, it's a little hard to feel sorry for them. I mean, what do you expect when you hitch onto somebody else's wagon so blatantly? I think if I see one more plexi headbox with joe blow's name in a scroll logo across the front, I'm gonna vomit blood.
