Looking to add a nice rack effects unit thats midi controlled to add with my ENGL SE.

I was thinking about the Rocktron Expression but what else do you guys suggest. I don't need anything for distortion but if it has it so be it. I'm looking for something with more for effects like delays, reverbs, chorus, all kinds of funky stuff.

Thanks :)

I'd say a TC product, I'm looking at the G-major myself.

I like Rocktron stuff myself. I've see too many TC units with missing knobs and buttons to put my money or faith in them. I had an Expression and liked it a lot, but I also realized I'm not a rack unit guy. To many fukkin' parameters! :? :x :D

If there is no budget, go for an Eventide Eclipse! Anyways, if you're looking on the cheap - G Sharp, G-Major or a Rocktron.

another rocktron vote. I'm very happy with my xpression and have also seen and heard of too many issues with the g-major.

The TC G-Sharp looks cool.
I may get one for my SLO.

Sounds great and is easy to use.

I'm intrigued.....

The site doesnt have shit for specs, well not really. Can you elaborate on it? How are the speaker simulators?

I'm Digging the EVENTIDE. Just read up on it. Looks like one sweet processor. The Harmonizer itself sells this unit and if the other effects are just as good I think this might be the one. Not to mention I can use it in my recording rig as well.

The G Sharp sounds really cool, but if the fact that you can't use 2 effects at the same time totally puts me off.

well, head to head with the g-major (a friend's rig...and he actually had both units at the time) the xpression wins out in the chorus & reverb departments - notably more lush, rich, smooth and far less metallic.

I also really like the dry-through feature (can't remember how the tc stacks up here though).

As far as the speaker sims go...I'm not really one to comment since I've hardly dug into them at all, just flipped them on a few times for some quick and dirty direct recording...sounded ok, but again, I've only used them for quick scratch tracks.

cool if I can find one cheap enough I may get it to try out.......

Do you know how the delays compare?

it's been too long to say for sure...but the chorus and reverb had the most distinct differences. the rocktron had a less "synthetic" feel fwiw.

The eclipse sounds amazing if you don't mind spending the extra cash. Great converters, lush deep sounds, tons of crazy effects combinations etc. etc.

I'm sorry but the G-Major is crap to me. Totally taints the tone even though they state that it does not. It does sound better on certain amps than others, though. Rocktron I have heard good things about and I think Eventide is the ultimate if you can afford it. G-Force was much better than the Major but that's a studio unit.

Gotta disagree.

I have not forund the GMajor to color my tone at all. For the money, about 400 bucks, it's a great all around unit. sure there are other things out there that are better. But for something that does a little of everything, it's cool.

I agree that if price is no concearn, go for the G Force or an Eventide. Or even a rack full of shit that each box only does one thing VERY well.

Haven't used Rocktron, so I can't say about that.
