The appetite tone is what I grew up on so to speak. To me it is "the tone."
For someone who grew up in the 60s I am sure clapton's tone and hedrix's is "it." It's all a matter of taste I guess.

I'm 36, I grew up listening to and playing the 80's metal stuff, too. But Slash's tone on Appetite was never what I considered to be great Les Paul & Marshall tone, it always sounded like he was using a cheap distortion box, a lot like a JCM900.
I just prefer a slightly different 80's hard rock/metal sound. Think early (2 arms) Def Leppard, early Tesla, Fair Warning for less gainy tones, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest (pre-Turbo Lover) for higher gain stuff and Megadeth (Peace Sells era) and Metallica (MOP) for heavier stuff.

I hear ya Odin, Clapton isnt my favorite either. You like more metal type tones and that's cool. One of my favorite tones is Zakk from his first 2 ozzy discs. It's warmer than Slash's appetite tone, but the appetite tone is just it for me. It snarls and is so razor sharp. Fit the records vibe to a T

I am not and nor have I ever wanted to be part of any "shit storm" or flame wars, which is why I do not post in those kinds of threads. If you don't have time for it then in all honesty why bother making the time to take jabs at us in public forum in the first place?
The last time we spoke on the phone I said (several times) "Regardless of what is is, if there is something that is bothering you for any reason please just pick up the phone and call me." To date you have never called. You live 1 hour away and I have stated more than a dozen times (both in PM's, emails and in the threads) that you are more than welcome at our shop any time and that I would buy lunch or dinner when ever you wanted to come by. By the same token I'm more than happy to drive up to your shop to talk with you.

If you seriously want to talk I am more than willing to call you (as I have before) and put an end to what ever it is that you feel we did to wrong you but if you are not going to be approachable (which your post doesn't give the impression that you are) then naturally there is little point. It is now 1:44PM and I have to leave to pick up my daughter in Syracuse. As I will be fairly close to your shop I am more than willing to stop by and talk with you in person for as long as it takes. If it's after I pick up my daughter then my wife can take her to dinner so we an talk. If you are truly serious about wanting to talk then please call me on my cell phone.
