Any users of the C-1FR here? Im checking them out online and the specs look great. Floyd Rose Original trem, Mahogany Body and neck, Quilted Maple top and EMG's!

How good are they for shredding? Im thinking of picking one up if they are fast and play effortlessly!

The necks on those guitars are real thick, almost Gibson thick. Not a bad thing, but don't expect a "shredder" neck.

I can't speak for the HR model, but i've owned a 007 Elite, C1, C1 Plus and C1 Elite: all were great guitars.
The neck is between a Gibson and a Fender.
But the quilt is veneer, not actual maple (if that matters to you)

Hmm thats a point, i didnt know if the C-1 FR had a thinner neck than the other models! I'd have to play one and see what think!

Ok makes sense, thanks for the info on the Quilt top!

Hmm see basically what im after is a guitar that will work great for shredding and play really easily, but have a decent trem (NOT liscenced) and not cost me a whole lot. I wonder if i would be better off finding an old Ibanez or something cheaper used on ebay? Hmmmm

I actually just bought this exact guitar, I got it in the red quilt top. For the money it is a great guitar. I bought it with the mindset that I wanted to own one guitar in my life with EMG's and a Floyd Rose, and here it is. Ive never really used a floyd or any other tremolo system before, or played any music that utilized it, but I wanted one for the option of doing van halen type stuff, or some shredding metal solos lol. Anyway, I dont think you can go wrong, they are nicely crafted guitars. Also, you may or may not know this. But Schecter is a sister company to ESP. Theyre onwed by the same guy, he just doesnt want to put ESP's name on it, cuz he is japanese, and he doesnt care for koreans, where schecters are made. Here's a pic of my rig with the schecter

If you can shred on something like a fender 'C' shape neck, then you should be ok.
All my C1's had almost the same neck and they were close to fender's C shape.

I was looking hard at that guitar, the regular C-1 FR, a Jeff Hanneman LTD, and a few others. I ended up on ebay scoring a '02 RG570 for half what the Hellraiser costs.

I just have a very difficult time buying any guitar new anymore.

i played one today, i really don't like schecter necks, though.

Man trust me i know exactly how you feel! I can get amps and FX to work out for me, but i have a hell of a time buying a new guitar that i like!

I had Ibanez on my mind in the first place, i think something like a maple board RG550 would work for me with a good setup. Trouble is 550 prices going up

Well, of all the Korean guitars I've played the LTD and Schecters are easily the best made. Maybe the same factory?

I worked on a guys house who is the front man for Pillar of Nein (Depeche Mode meets Ministry) and he just took a tour of several Korean factories. He came back most impressed with the plant that built Schecters. That plant also does the Agile line for Rondo Music.
