Hello world.

I have been curious about the Henning amp line. Estrada’s demo of the bottle rocket is killer, but more so curious about the CherryBomb. Any experiences with either?

I owned a Cherry Bomb for a while and was disappointed honestly. Sounded ok, but my Wizard and other amps I had at the time smoked it. Feel wasn’t great either imo
Thanks for the views. The feel is what I was worried about, the higher notes come across a little stiff/edgy, but there’s so many factors between the player to recorder to computer to phone speakers and all that

I think these views are harsh. Steve (who I have always enjoyed dealing with) makes super high quality stuff with a produced sound. Think of what some like best about the high end Bogner amps. They aren't brash or brittle (but aren't dark by any means).

I remember mine being bright sounding, not dark or anything like a Bogner or Friedman and very different feel than those amps too. I have a heard a bunch say they’re very well built, I don’t doubt that, but that’s independent from being a great sounding amp. In fact, honestly it was a good example of why I started ignoring when others raved about how some amps looked on the inside because for me it’s all about quality of tone and some great sounding amps I know can also be a real mess in there sometimes. I just go with what my ears tell me

It certainly wasn’t a bad amp, but I just had at the time a Wizard and some great modded Marshall’s and I just didn’t honestly feel it held its own against them, so off it went

I had a Cherry Bomb. Good amp with a variety of Marshall-based tones. Build quality was phenomenal, but it didn't have the saturation I was hoping for. I thought it was said to be Jose-inspired, but IMHO it seemed more like a tricked-out Quick Rod than the Cameron or Friedman stuff I've had.

I owned a cherry bomb for a while. Steve was amazing to deal with and helped me with getting it tuned to have a bit more of gain. In the end I didn’t like that it was two hot channels like a twin jet and not a hot and clean channel setup for the money. With a boost in front and an EQ in the loop you can get some insane Marshall tones out of them. They like V30s.

I would have continued to keep it but sold mine to recoup funds for a new car. I would like to give it another go now that I’ve got two 4x12s again, doubt I’ll find one for the price I’d like. His amps are built well and you have nothing to worry about for warranty. Downside is that there’s very little documentation on them anywhere and it’s very niche Jose style modes on the Marshall channel, and you will have to have a boost to goose a cherry bomb out of classic rock range.

Sounds like the majority seems to feel the same and I read similar things.
Thanks guys

anyone play bottlerocket?

Oh I almost forgot the number two reason I offed mine, and that was because it was super stiff to play and not a whole lot of fun by itself. The way it responded didn’t match the type of tone that came out of it, almost opposite actually. I like amps that are expressive and easy to play. You should definitely know this about the CB.

Me too I like amps that feel free, I don’t need super tight amp. Thanks. I’ve read that numerous times I think I will pass.

You guys ever wonder if the creators of these amps can read?
Asking for lefty'lucy' & that bottom end.

I had a Cherry Bomb. Wasn’t for me. From what I could tell, it was very well built. I favored my Splawn and Helios. I think I would enjoy the Bottle rocket a lot more.

Def wasn't an attack on the builder/creator and it was very well built. The tone just could keep up with other modded Marshall style amps, especially for the price. Hell IMO Ceriatone should be scaring the sh*t out of most amp builders right now. Asked for opinions and thats what we give. All good!
