Finally got an Uberschall back after having one and selling it like a jackass. Got this super clean Rev Blue from a friend for a fair price. There's just something about the growl of an Uber that is instantly satisfying to me.

Any opinions on the Uberkab anyone? I'd like to sell the Engl cab and get a 4x12 but haven't narrowed it down yet. Was considering an Uberkab or another Omega cab.

I think overall I really enjoy my Uber cab. It’s slightly dark, very dense sounding with a great solid low end. It’s been in my isobox mic’d up for a week or two now with all my Amps sounding pretty great through it. And honestly the 75s sound absolutely killer in it by themselves. I’m generally not a fan of mixing speakers for mono guitar tracks either, but I’ll have to Experiment more with that. I never mic’d it up unfortunately when I had my uberschall, but I’m sure it’s obviously pretty great with it. I’d probably sell the engl in your situation just given The versatility you’ll have with the Uber over the engl, but ideally I’d keep both: my engl cab is simply incredible, loaded with V30s and 65 watt creambacks. I’ll never sell that thing, but that’s a different story.
 
I had a rear-loaded Uberkab that was really great. Sounded good with everything. I just really dislike straight cabs so eventually sold it off. But if you like straights, it's a really nice cab.
 
I really like my Ubercab. Have had it for 11 years now. It’s dark and kinda smooth/polished sounding (probably from the foam on the back panel), but very big, fat/heavy sounding and also tight. It’s one of those cabs that has its own tone. Even with the many speaker swaps I’ve tried it still has the same overall sound. For modern style cabs, I find myself playing my Diezel 412FL most these days, but am getting speakers installed in my Fryette Fatbottom 412, so will see how that compares. I’ve tried quite a few Omega cabs and they didn’t do much for me honestly

I've heard numerous people mention the Uberkab is somewhat "dark" so that has put me off a bit tbh. I had a Diezel FL 2x12 w/V30's that I thought was great but wouldn't be opposed to trying the same one with K100's.

What didn't you like about the Omega cab's? My 2x12 is imo the best cab I've used hands down but its all subjective of course.

Bogner still makes the rear loaded, they just dont call it the Uberkab. You can order them with whatever speakers you want, I have one with all v30s and its prob my fav cab.

I'm more of a front loaded kind of guy. A 2x12 "Uberkab" would be ideal for me honestly.
 
I’ll get flamed most likely but I personally don’t like the Uber paired with the uberkab. It doesn’t handle the massive low end all that well, which is what I’m sure where the disagreements will come from. It’s a dark and loose cab. However, I’m a big fan of the cab itself with other amps. One of my all time favs actually.

on another note, congrats on getting another Uber. I love mine and it can do much more than metal if you really dive into it. Load that bitch with KT77’s or 6CA7’s and crank it! Tightens up that low end and actually makes it sound more massive if you could believe it. I’ve had KT88’s in mine too and while I dig the sound for certain applications, it cleans up the sound too much and loses that unique aggression characteristic it’s known for.
 
The rear loaded Uberkab is fairly dark for a Celestion cab—this is due to the 8-ohm speakers and probably the Dacron poly fiberfill. I don't find it loose at all. It's got a glued-in baffle, center post and the aforementioned dampening polyester to keep everything relatively dead and tight. It's far from a Marshall cab in tone and feel, despite having the same dimensions.

Keep in mind the rear loaded cabs were designed for the more lively original Uberschalls. I believe the front loaded 16-ohm Uberkabs were introduced alongside the darker/less bassy Rev Blue heads. You get more highs and lows from the cab and less from the head with the intended setup.

That’s my Herbert through the Uber micing thr V30. Nothin loose about that.... dark? Well I wouldn’t judge by this clip, because it’s debatable, plus eq applied. But I’m not a fan of dark tones at all personally, especially in modern production, and the Uber cab is plenty bright for me. It’s bright without the harshness of my Marshall 1960BV.... THATS a bright cab, but it’s also my favorite. The Uber is just fine as far as high end is concerned in my opinion. It has a unique way of the highs coming through but not being prominent.
 
My rear loaded is not loose , Its one of the tighter cabs Ive had. Its still forgiving though, its a really balanced sounding cab IMO. In comparison my Mesa traditional 4x12 is a little nasal sounding and my Splawn 4x12 is not as full in the low-end. It cuts nicely in a live mix too.

It is my darkest sounding cab of what I have by a pretty good margin I admit, but I still really like it’s sound and I tend not to like most gear that’s very dark sounding

My Diezel 412 FL came with all K100’s. Not a bad sound, but not optimal for it either imo. I have mine currently loaded with K100’s crossed with V30’s. It sounds fine like that, but will put my preferred vintage speakers and maybe also some 20 watt Heritage GB’s in it later when I have time. It’s a nice cab imo. I use it more than my Ubercab. Sounds tight, modern, beefy, maybe a little sterile or neutral, but that’s just because my Kerry Wright 412 spoiled me lol

The Omega cabs I’ve tried sounded good, but I think my friend who owns tons of them just kinda overhyped them and his were all loaded with just Eminences, which are not my favorite speakers, so to be fair maybe I didn’t hear them optimally, but as they were I liked his Ubercab and Diezel cab more, which all had their stock celestions in them. My favorite cab is my Kerry Wright, but they are very pricy and no longer available. They’re also rear loaded, so they may not be your thing anyway. I don’t honestly think they’re worth what they are, but still are the best sounding cab I’ve had, so I’m happy to have one in my Arsenal

Agreed. The Uberschall's are nice amps for sure, but none of them growled much to me (I still need to try a Rev 1 though). They sounded polished and more on the smooth side to me

The low end just sits wrong to me. It doesn’t have The punch I want compared to my rev F for instance. Agreed. It’s rather pleasant and “nice”
Sounding to me.

the Uberkab is a great cab, but the polyfiber stapled on the back panel sucks all the life out of it. If you get one, rip that shit out. But really…. You should be getting a Fat Bottom cab!
