Worded beautifully... Except I think you are trying to defend the very people you are describing as well.

I encouraged dissenting opinion and tried to have engaging conversations. The people you think are being silenced were rude, insulting, and never focussed any discussion points when people disagreed with them. They insulted people and pushed their Facebook feed onto a gear forum. Hell one of them was even making accounts with similar names to troll members that didn't buy their crap. The others got tired of it and started playing the same game.

If the only thing that was happening was people discussing opinions, shit wouldn't have gotten out of hand. When the same 10 people were picking fights and in each other's face on every single thread, how is that political?

You guys all act like "the other side" (regardless of which side you are on, if any) was the problem. Because "my side was in the right". Everyone who was regularly posting was in the wrong.

Mods didn't pick a side. They took away the toys from fighting children.

See, there's a big difference in 2021, unlike the post-election political talk of past elections - even 2016.
It's obvious what I'm talking about so no need to get myself another night (or week) in the hole.

This isn't right vs. left as usual. Conservative vs. Liberal, pro gun vs. pro restrictions, pro-life vs. pro-choice, etc.
This is is HUGE difference today. That's what can't be discussed because it involves stuff that the board owners
don't want any part of.

I don't blame them one bit. Even though I was one of those shut down (or shut up) the most.

Nailed it. Off Topic devolved into a dumpster fire in the midst of a shitstorm. A bunch of grown ass men behaving like fucking petty, petulant children. As far as I’m concerned, shutting it down saved Rigtalk, and many of you from further self embarrassment. This is a privately owned and run forum. It’s free, and we’re all guests here. Your precious Freedom of Speech is not protected here, and they don’t owe you a goddamn thing, so quit your fucking crying. You brought this upon yourselves, and you know who you are.

FOS protects you from government persecution, and that’s it. In the real world, there are societal repercussions for such behavior. Always has been, always will be.

It does appear that a growing part of the population is becoming spoiled ,entitled and unappreciative , many of them surrendering Rights Freedoms and Priveleges with idiotic glee, Mr. Willy however isnt among them.

I get that it’s a private forum and the mods can do what they want. You can stop trying to argue that point because I agree with it. I may not agree with the decisions they make, but it’s their forum.
I’m referring to the flippant and excepting attitude that you and darkness guy are displaying towards what is, essentially, totalitarian type thinking. That type of thinking condones shutting speech down, whether it be on forums, social media, or even the public circle. if you’re constantly on the side of more moderation, more rules, more authority telling you and others what to do, bigger government that can takes care of all of society’s problems, then you are very far away from the concept of liberty.
Besides that, your analogy is inaccurate. The main page would be my “home.” The Off Topic section is the underground bomb shelter I built outside my house over in the field for the express purpose of what is is designed for. I know crap’s going down out there, but I also know that whoever enters that bomb shelter 1. is planning on throwing some bombs, and 2. enters into the bomb shelter, and this is DETRIMENTAL, they enter of their own freewill.

With all due respect, how old are you? You remind me a lot of someone and I wonder if you are from the same generation.

I consider it a pretty large leap to go from accepting a forum's rules all the way to accepting being a pawn in a totalitarian regime.
I don't understand the hyperbole that way with a lot of topics that have come up here.

I believe a building fell by itself = he just believes everything THE MAN tells him
I believe in equal rights, regardless of which sex you sleep with = he condones deviant behavior
I believe in following the rules = he's a sheep

How can you have a serious discussion with someone who seems to immediately equate non-adherence to their personal ideologies
as meaning the other person is messed up in some way, or just flat out a lemming to the supposed MSM?
