I haven't been here on the forum in quite some time..and I love this forum !

I was in an auto accident back in August 09'..other guys fault..screwed up my spine from top to bottom..messed up discs.

My orthopedic doc that had done surgery on my neck and right shoulder told me that in order for him to do any work on these many messed up discs he would have to take out most of my insides and doesn't want to do that..so basically I'm fucked..I live in the sticks and even with my $850 per month health insurance theres only 3 docs that take it and he's one of them.

My Ortho surgeon is damn good and was highly recommended..I am also going to a rheumatoid arthritis doc for Osteo-arthritis and now also treating me for psoriatic arthritis..he has put me on a Buprenorphine pain patch that does help but they are only good for 7 days, and 4 patches per box..so the off days I withdraw so bad,and its getting to where the patches only last 4-5 days max now and have to have it off for at least 2 days before next one goes on.

I have already asked them whats next after these patches and was told heavier narcotics..that sucks because I'm only 55 years old and hate this shit, its gotten to the point where I maybe have 3-4 decent days per week that I can do anything if that.

I haven't even been playing my guitars and the reality is setting in that I'm going to have to sell my gear down to 1 amp and 1 guitar, and doubt I will even play them.

Anyone else have any similarities to what I'm going through ? I never thought it would come to this, but lifes a bitch sometimes..

Not looking for sympathy..just freaking out that 95% of my gears about to be sold..

Hey my brother,
I am so sorry that you’re going through this valley, its a deep dark one…
I have had 16 (3 eye / 4 hernia / 5 knee / 4 carpal tunnel) surgeries in the last two decades and I still need to have my left knee replaced and my right shoulder rotator cuff surgery done.
It’s so tough living with pain, and all the meds etc.
As I was going thru the very hardest periods, I would try to find at least a few things that were fun, to keep my mind from losing ‘hope’. It’s the hope that keeps us going. I downloaded tons of live concert audio. I love live music and downloading a rare Van Halen show from 1981 and listening to it over the next few days, I really enjoyed that.
Try to find a few things that you can do each day that you actually look forward to, however small they are.
Reach out to friends and make sure you have people involved in your life, don’t spend so much time by yourself, it’s dangerous and we think too much.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help from others, friends, family, etc Many people want to help, in any way they can, they just don’t know how to offer…
Listen to as much positive music and media as you can, the brain is extremely powerful and we need to keep feeding the mind with positive news and sounds and feelings.
(That one’s not an easy one these days because of what is going on presently in the world…)
Hang out with and talk with and spend time with all the people who lift you up, the positive people in your life, throw everyone else away, they are of no help to you right now.

I understand where you’re at man, I’m so sorry you’re going thru it. Please just hang onto that music, or listening to podcasts, or whatever you can enjoy doing while you go thru it.
And finally, never give up!

You’re in my thoughts and prayers brother!

^ That was so well said

Not much to add as those were my thoughts as well.

Hang in there brother riffermadness, you've still got us rig-talkers too to listen, help distract, find new stuff, provide mojo etc.

I'm not gonna try to act like I can relate to your pain, but if you are ever guitarless or ampless PM me and i'll make sure you have something playable. Also remember guitar is not the ONLY way to make music. I hope a brighter day is ahead for you, brother.
