Old Bogner XTC with Mercury Magnetic transformers

Just bought a 1998 XTC 101B -Apparently Bogner used Mercury Magnetic transformers in the earlier XTC's. After having several newer XTC's without the MM transformers - this is the best sounding by far. A lot clearer and tighter then the new ones IMHO. He never should have stop using the MM - probably stopped to save money -

FYI only the output transformer was MM, the PT was custom to his amp design.

Bogner custom made them on his own.

I had an early 101b. Serialed in the 80s. To my ear, It sounded different to every later 101b I played. Very cool.

Hard to say. I believe the Fish were hand wound power transformers and I wouldn't be surprised if he hand wound power transformers in all of his ground up builds.

I’ve read that there were a lot of problems getting a transformer to handle all the power demands of the XTC- so maybe he built it- internet blah blah- so who knows

Bogner used this manufacture and Soldano used them at the very end after O'netics went away..

From the feet and the looks of how it was made, I'm fairly positive it's an MM.
