BTW - can't figure out how to post an iPhone clip here but you can go to the Wizard Group Facebook page and check out a clip I just posted from our gig last Saturday at Cazadero's in Estacada, OR....worth it for the Jazzercise patron dancing alone :ROFLMAO:

The Radio Riots - MC25 > Mather vert 2x12, playing my Hamer Korina Special, I'm Mr Clean

Sounds great! Nice work. The 2012 MTL I had was very scooped; and didn't take any of my boosts well. It had these 'hollow' mids that I just couldn't jive with. Later I picked up a 2010 MC100 and THAT was the Wizard for me. Fantastic.
Wizards are great amps.
Yep I'm much more a rock than metal guy and so my MCII is king, but damn this MTL is good. I find with some knob twiddling, and keeping the mids up it's not too scooped. But if you want ballsy, cutting mids I don't think the MC can be beaten.

Sounds great! Finally a Wizard clip that rocks :) Nice production/recording and fun riffs.

Ha thanks man. Having a great amp and cab make recording fun and fast. Way back in my teen years I couldn't understand why my Ibanez into Peavey didn't sound killer in recordings...

Nice playing, and great dancing!

Aw man thanks for the tech hand here! That song is a gas to play and the little MC25 is just crushing it for this stuff and these sized rooms. That lady was on fire all night, the air guitar going off back in the bar was epic as well....we're living the Golden Age of Amps, your room is proof of that! Nice clips you've got happening, keep em' coming!

I know how fond of the MC25 you are and I really enjoyed the one I had, but I'm guessing a 50w MCII will just open your ears to the next level. I know between the MC25 and 100W MCII it's no contest in the girth and sonic footprint dept. Tone is there in spades with the mC25 and I actually think it had the best tone of the six Wizards I've owned....the midrange voicing and level of harmonic swirl/bloom is a thing of beauty in that little amp. It will shit all over many 50 and 100w non Wizard amps IMO, but It just lacks in headroom and sonic footprint when you've owned the 100w Wizard.
Other option I’m considering is getting the newer 100 watt version of the Freyette Power Station and just using that to ramp up the MC25 when needed....I scored a first run Keeley Katana clean boost and have been hitting the front end of the MC25 with killer result, it sounds awesome....

ZEN amps - you have any experience with the Power Station and your wall of amps?

Yes a PS2A - but only for turning things down! I'm sure it'll do fine job of turning up but never actually had the need.

I actually have an MC25 clone too, it's pretty damn loud. If it's just volume you need then yeah I guess re-amping is the solution. If you want the extra balls and depth of a big EL34 amp, well...

Oh I don't doubt it would.....I won't rule it out. We did three outdoors shows over the Summer that pushed the limits of the MC25, but its been fine for every other gig. If an MCII 50 popped up at a reasonable price I would prob jump on it right now. Rare case that I've got a few bucks set aside for something like that, also why I jumped on the newer MC25. My original MC25 will likely go up for sale soon, I would move my Bogner 3534 too to make it happen. If Rick would make a 50 in the same size format as the 25 I would've already done it. Space at home and onstage is at such a premium, that MC25 on the vert Mather 2x12 is ideal. Last, I stumbled on a first version Keeley Katana today and used it with the MC25 and its freaking nuts. That little amp roars.
Just a thought (though you probably already know this) - the full size Wizards are less than 6" wider than the 25, so not a big space saving (y)

Hahah yep already did the measurements and the math...I’m plotting ? Another Mather cab is in the works, same dimensions as a Bogner OS 2x12 but with no valance, angled up baffle and black / white piping color scheme..it’s full sized head width....the updated version MC25 is supposed to be here today so we’ll see where that takes things...stereo MC25’s wouldn’t be a bad thing hahaha.

Sounds good.
I briefly had a 2016 MTL earlier this year. I was impressed with how hearty and chunky it sounded. I actually like the MC50 I had for thrashy metally stuff better, more razor sharp, imo.
I could do just about anything with the MTL. So much meat to the tone. Very quality. Cleans, crunch, and heavies, it was in there.
But yeah, if I ever do Wizard again, it's going to have to be a MCII.

So my recently acquired MTL is bringing the goods in ways I hadn't expected. That Rhy Ch. is probably the best boutique Marshall tone I've experienced. So much fun to play I thought I'd share a short clip of my worst Page impression. Metal guys don't hate on me, you've been warned.

Curious why MTL vs the Vintage Classic?

Your clip sounds fantastic but it does not sound like Jimmy Page's tone at all to my ears.

Agreed, the MCII is a beast and has that superb bite that I think is unique to it. I know it's loosely based on a Jubilee but it crushes my 2555x, it's not even close.

I didn't buy the MTL for classic tones, was just pleasantly surprised at how well it can do them! Would love to try a VC one day but have a few old Marshalls that I'm not sure can be beaten.

Thanks. My Page comment was about me ripping of his licks, not his tone (y)

Got my new(er) MC25 yesterday...its pretty badass and for sure is a bit a different beast than my first one. It's voiced a bit different, seems a bit smoother in the drive dept, maybe not as aggressive as the 1st version. The rhythm channel has been substantially helped and re-voiced, the black cat mod is killer; It's voiced brighter now too, running the rear bright control almost off now. Another killer Wizard amp. Other guitar player in my band will likely end up with my first one, I can see selling that and my Bogner 3534 and chasing down an MCII 50. We're back Saturday at the same club we played on Halloween so I'll get a chance to see how it does live....

Zen I wanna hear you do a wizard Diezel mix once your Herbert 3 arrives
