I know UPS and Fedex ship up there but is anybody familiar with a company that is fair in price to ship a guitar to Canada. Thank you for any info.

I'd pass on shipping anything to canada now... you watching the news with the truckers?

I have I will bring that up to him, hes paying shipping and hes buying the guitar, I told him it will be very expensive but if he wants to pay for it that's fine it's all on him..

I ship to Canada several times a week through my business. I use UPS. Not difficult, and not that expensive for Standard (ground) service.

And they are safe to ship guitars?
You can insure it for any amount. Insurance will protect you in case of damage or loss. I trust them more than Postal service, and their tracking is much better. A guitar is like any other fragile item. The key is to use packing to pack the item tightly, and tape the box efficiently. If the guitar is in it's correct case (fits tightly), the case would protect the guitar. You would just put the guitar in it's case, and the case in a good box with packing around it. Tape it up well, and you're good to go.
The other thing with shipping to Canada is to make sure the paperwork is correct. They require 3 copies of a signed invoice for the item, with origins, as well as a customs declaration page. These are things I have to deal with as a UPS account, but if you take the item to a UPS store for shipping, they will take care of all of that.

Nice thank you everybody I appreciate the information?

The other 90% truckers are still going strong and you can still trust Fedex and Purolator. They forced everyone to get vaccines by early this month so anyone who didn't is on unpaid leave. Yes the fees are a pain in the ass with the big boys but hey, that's what it is all about here. Taxes and import fees. Oh, and "FREEDOM" too now! :P

There is.a new company called Ship nerd I had read about that is quoting cheaper than the major carriers and they are actually located in Canada but ship international

UPS will rape you for import charges/ brokerage fees. I try to always have stuff shipped USPS/Canada Post. It's always cheaper.

As a Canadian I agree with USPS. The fees the receiver get are usually significantly less.

You get big discounts through Reverb. Might be worth making a listing for a nominal amount just to get the savings.

Thanks again guys for all the replies. I ended up telling the guy I just don't want to deal with it. Sad thing is he was happy to give me my asking price when it was higher than what I'm asking now but I'd rather have piece of mind.

Deal with what? Paper work is minimal. Simply put what the value is and what the item is. Pick a shipping company and ship it.
