Hi everyone,

The Mesa Mini heads are great in my opinion and I think a lot of people like them. Not very affordable though but even though they are little, they still are proper Mesas. Sure, EL84 amps have less headroom than 6L6 100+ amps, that's just a fact but it doesn't make the amps less good, it just makes them different. Even though they have common grounds, they serve different purposes.

Anyway, so I'm a high gain guy as most of you may know so I just wanted to do a little bare bones high gain comparison between the two with my LTD KH-602 which is a great guitar by the way. It has a unique and tight sound, so great for these types of riffs.

For the Mini Recto I'm using the red channel on modern mode and for the Mark V channel 2 on the IIC+ mode. I'd be very curious to know which one you preferred here and why. Check it out:

The lil Rectifier is kinda tight by Recto standards. Nice. Mark 5 35 has that xtra mid grind.
I prefer the Recto.
Dug the music. Cool video.

I must say that the guitar and pickup do help with the tightness of the Recto here but it is a little tighter than my Dual Rectifier by default.

Nice video. I have the Rectoverb 25 and the Mark V 25. Love them both and I run them together most of the time as the blend really well together.

Great video and tone! Both sounded really good, I've owned both and prefer the Mark V 35. However, for more modern tones I'd use the Mark IV channel. I'm curious as to why you didn't compare the Mini Recto to the Mark V 35 on the Mark IV channel?

Good stuff as always!

I wanted to keep it somewhat "classic" Metallica-ish and I've been warming up to the IIC+ mode so I figured I'd just use that. The MK IV mode is great too though!
