Same. My gear collection has shrunk every year. The more I gig, record, etc, the more I know exactly what I need.

Sometimes that means high end stuff, sometimes it doesn't - but for me, I'd rather have a couple really nice pieces that do exactly what I need them to, rather than a cornucopia of shit that mostly never gets used.
There's a reason good stuff, proven stuff, works. You also get what you pay for. I want reliability and consistency, I've got a few bucks tied up in my rig but its worth it for me to have eliminated all the funky variables.

I have only had one sound guy complain about a 4x12. To be honest it was a small venue but I assured him I could turn down, but my drummer can't and won't so fucking good luck with that.
Haha yep....truth is I don't bother with a 4x12 primarily because I don't want to move it....

That's the funny thing about TGPs obsession with "grab and go" combos and IEMs and shit - they don't play with punk and metal drummers that hit consistently 115db rim shots on every snare hit.

I'm pretty sure that's why in the gigs I play, everyone has 4x12s ?

Truth. I do enjoy some boutique cork sniffery sometimes but if I were to gig on the road I'd probably use DSLs and BOSS pedals.

This is beyond snobbery; I recently visited TGP to find out info about the new Suhr delay pedal. Besides the fact that I couldn't find any useful info about the sound of the pedal in a 50+ page thread, some guy was expressing his displeasure at the style of washer that fastens the pedal's foot switch to it's chassis! WTF?

And that same dude is an expert on washers, all high end Suhr products, and can barely play the guitar. That's my biggest gripe....the internet has created instant experts. We all started somewhere, but WTF how is it that the clowns there that are the biggest gear "experts" are the shittiest most inexperienced players ??? Prime example - search TGP in the amps section for thread started by DiPa re Wizard MCII and how butt hurt he was that Rick wouldn't take a phone call to discuss amps.. guy goes on a rant about how he will not give Wizard a dime and doesn't approve of his business practices, only to end up getting one off the used market and suddenly they are fantastic. 40 - 50 pages deep now. You'll see my responses up front including the one that got me banned previously calling him out for being an attention whoooore. Fair enough the guy did end up posting a clip of him playing the amp, the clip only supports exactly what I'm saying. Spend your money on whatever you want, but don't confuse the ability to spend with the ability to play. Dude goes all passive aggressive on anybody that calls him out too, but I got reported :ROFLMAO:

Good video, I think I saw it when it came out a while. It’s pretty spot on. I’ve known snobs like that going back as far as I’ve been playing. I think there is always at least one in a group of players. I think the internet just gave a bigger bullhorn.

But we all fall victim to it sometimes, even if we think we’re trying to help someone by not spending money on that cheap/expensive piece of shit. Haha, but then again I want some opinions. So damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Curiosity got the better of me and I had to check that out. There was no need to call the guy out because he called himself out when he posted that clip. Jesus, out of tune guitar, notes bent horribly off pitch, etc. Sounds like a beginner but I bet he isn't. At least Wizards come with top quality washers.

Hahaha! I remember that thread. I started reading it when i was looking for info about their models. After the 3rd or 4th page i got tired of that dude's bitchiness. I didn't realize your attention whore post got you banned

No, actually

I use two 4x12s religiously

And the only comments I get are "wow, nice rig" and "holy shit that's a Larry" and stuff like that.

The gigs I play, everyone uses half stacks still

*Shrug*
Same here . I actually always blend two half stacks . Luckily I got cool friends who roadie

Here in Ohio I’ve yet heard that . So big cabs are bad is a thing ?

I often think I'm not a snob, but then I look around and see a Friedman, Rev C recto, a couple Suhrs an Anderson and an ESP custom, 1-off. How is that not Snobbery?? If I was playing a DSL, Epiphone, Squire and LTD maybe that wouldn't be the case.

Maybe I'm not smelling finishes and licking tubes like Braintheory does, but I'm not immune from this label either
If you think the squire you have is as good as a suhr, then you are just a cheap gear snob. :). We are all snobs to some extent.

It’s also why I’m partially deaf in my mid 30s. I stood in front of loud 5150’s for too many years.

I understand. But I used ear protection the entire time, and im fine :dunno:
I’m not horrible but I can’t hear whispering and sometimes have to turn the television up with quiet dialogue. I don’t have ringing or other bs, just deaf af according to my wife ?

Still though, take care of your ears from now on man. Don't lose anything else
