Y'all act like 4x12 cabs can't have wheels on the bottom! Yeah, I gotta lift them on to certain stages or into the transportation, but it ain't that bad. If I can get my 8x10 up the stairs myself, y'all can't really bitch about your tiny guitar cabs.

I'm definitely the last guy. Too many nice guitars sitting in their cases not getting played.
I need to just sell them.

I got 2 different rigs. Inside the house. A line 6 spider jam. Works perfect for goofing off on. Sounds great. Then the main rig the prs Archon 100 with two lynch box 4x12 cabs. Sits in my garage played when my drummer comes out. Been almost 2 years I plugged into it. But not letting it go. Just sounds great and kinda my desert island rig. Used to own tons of amps. Guitars. These days not much more than mentioned. Hey if it sounds good and works for ya then play it. By the way. My guitar strap is nylon. Haha

I’m really surprised out of all of the amps that went through your hands that you landed on the archon and not something prior, then again that also shows you weren’t flipping just to flip but actually looking for something.

Those lynchbox cabs are hiwatt and Marshall hybrid cabinets that sound really good and they’re hard to find now. You’d have an easier time replacing the head than the cabinets.

I’ve landed on the amps that I love. I can’t really see getting rid of any of them because they are similar but different enough to offer a different inspiration or one does something well that another doesn’t. There’s a lot of overlap which is on purpose for my playing style. Anytime I get tired of one I can play another and kill any GAS for anything that ever comes up. I even play my 6505MH for practice stuff a lot.

I’m content gear wise. I really need to get my effects in order and build a proper rack or pedalboard.

I have two pairs of tan pants. The ones I'm wearing now and another pair in the garage, just in case I shit myself.
If that tends to be a problem you may want to invest in a pair of shittin' pants.

Great thread!

Serious question. I have a Splawn Quick Rod but can't really play well yet and still a bit of a noob. Does that make me a snob? Do I push it too much?

That's the funny thing about TGPs obsession with "grab and go" combos and IEMs and shit - they don't play with punk and metal drummers that hit consistently 115db rim shots on every snare hit.

I'm pretty sure that's why in the gigs I play, everyone has 4x12s ?
Seriously, heavy handed drummers Trump everything else with an electric signal!

Absolutely.

Those "grab and go" afficianados don't understand that a tiny terror or blues Jr or deluxe or whatever 15 watt 1x12 is going to be completely drowned the fuck out by any competent metal or punk drummer on planet earth.

I've played with drummers that drowned out a hot rod deluxe ffs

Those types don't seem to understand that not every gig is the county fair, with everything neatly miced and coming through the monitors.

The one big negative with mic ing amps live is that you have to run the amps much quieter. It’s nice when you can get the amp some volume and just have the mains for vocals and kick drum support.

And don’t get me started on blues juniors. Not a fan at all and every one of them I have seen has bad power tubes because fender Biases them way too hot with no bias pot. So they all get a bias mod before I send them back out.

I've played with such heavy handed drummers (in bedrooms/jam rooms), that have drowned out my 6505+ 120w at near volume 4. If you've ever pushed that amp past 4, duck for cover because it's f'ing loud!!

And that same dude is an expert on washers, all high end Suhr products, and can barely play the guitar. That's my biggest gripe....the internet has created instant experts. We all started somewhere, but WTF how is it that the clowns there that are the biggest gear "experts" are the shittiest most inexperienced players ??? Prime example - search TGP in the amps section for thread started by DiPa re Wizard MCII and how butt hurt he was that Rick wouldn't take a phone call to discuss amps.. guy goes on a rant about how he will not give Wizard a dime and doesn't approve of his business practices, only to end up getting one off the used market and suddenly they are fantastic. 40 - 50 pages deep now. You'll see my responses up front including the one that got me banned previously calling him out for being an attention whoooore. Fair enough the guy did end up posting a clip of him playing the amp, the clip only supports exactly what I'm saying. Spend your money on whatever you want, but don't confuse the ability to spend with the ability to play. Dude goes all passive aggressive on anybody that calls him out too, but I got reported :ROFLMAO:
Infuriating

I'm no pro musician but that clip we really bad.

I'm a caster snob; I think cabs sound better without them

I often think I'm not a snob, but then I look around and see a Friedman, Rev C recto, a couple Suhrs an Anderson and an ESP custom, 1-off. How is that not Snobbery?? If I was playing a DSL, Epiphone, Squire and LTD maybe that wouldn't be the case.

Maybe I'm not smelling finishes and licking tubes like Braintheory does, but I'm not immune from this label either

The "snob" part is about how you act, not what you have. It's fine to have great gear but it's not fine to refuse to acknowledge that anything less expensive or rare could be just as good, which it often can be in the right hands.
