Again, trying to keep this civil but you stated you had them for several days before requesting the return.
Look at it from "his" point of view, you opened the box, had them for several days then request the return. Again, you could have put time on them thus the return to Doug is a "used" tube that he has to resale as used because whether you did or didn't put time on them, how is he to know the difference?
Now getting something defective is a different story and I would expect Doug to help out. But getting something and deciding, hey I don't need this, I can get it cheaper somewhere else but I've opened it up already, to me that's on the person that made the purchase not the person selling.
As for adding additional tape etc... to the actual product boxes, well now your tearing those things up trying to open them and again, he has to look at that as a used tube because it would destroy the original packaging. Bottom line is this isn't a big box store where people can buy a guitar online, decide it sucks and send it back.

Yes you are correct. Thanks for the civility. I'm soaking in the barage of information. Like I said I'm new to tube world. I have dealt with restocking fees for electronics before and I understand that tubes are unique fragile products that have a usable life. I get it. Buying tubes is different from buying most other things and I'm just getting my brain around all that. Just so you know I was talking about the shipping box not the tube box. The tubes were never opened. None of that really matters. Its pretty clear the community is pretty tired of this. On the plus side I do have seemed have set a new record, however the jury is still out on the douchbag and crybaby thing. My theory on that is "You spot it you got it"

Maybe you should've come here and made you first post asking for information on that particular vendor and educated yourself in that way instead of launching an internet wide campaign against him.

Yes I understand you were talking about the shipping box originally. Honestly I think had you received them without opening the shipping box and asked for a return, he probably would have taken them back no issue.
Overall this is a good board, and there is plenty of history here of dealers, manufacturers getting called out when they step over the line or operate in the shady area. I've had good transactions with Doug, Tubestore, Tube Depot but with tubes I kinda look at it like this, they are tubes, they are more or less fragile and I realize I could get something bad, even though it was tested. Sorta like guitar strings, sometimes you put on a new set and pop a string tuning up. But I also realize if I buy those and decide I don't want them for whatever reason, I'm stuck with them. Long story short, if those dealers were screwing people over consistently they wouldn't last very long. Stick around, this is a good place that allows alot of leeway unlike some boards.
Btw/ you can also look at it this way now, best to hang onto those tubes considering the current circumstances.

By the standard you set earlier, that would be an insult to me based on the amount of time and effort wasted. The thanks I get? A sarcastic dig at a mod.
A better approach might've been one of contrition. I mean, you joined and in less than a quarter of a day submitted 4 useless reports and disrespected a mod. Yes, those reports were beyond-trivial. Every one of them cited personal attacks, none of which was even remotely report or even noteworthy. It so happens that you said things to others that by your standard today would've been report-worthy too, which is why I quoted two of them in order to get the point across to you, but maybe you misinterpreted that?
At any rate, we're super-tolerant here, both staff and members, but respect goes a long way, as does a bit of a thick skin, especially when it comes to being triggered by the usual ebbs and flows of everyday discourse. The latter is precisely what I saw occurring in the previous page (and the other thread) between you and other members. Just a bit of banter and certainly nothing to feel offended about.

Well, maybe some sarcasm, however it was reality kind compared to some of stuff I got so don't be too sensitive about that. BTW the emoji was also a good laugh at myself. I kicked over a hornets nest. It was sort of like a train wreck where the engine stops but the cars keep coming in.
