Who Was That Guitar Shop Troll Guy?

Y'all remember back in the day, there was this guy who had a guitar shop with super ugly custom guitars? He was infamous for a minute. And he had some funny articles and whatnot on his site and he trashed every other guitar brand out there. Anybody remember that guy's name?
 
I remember the guy and some threads here, but I don’t recall the name. Some seriously fugly stuff!

Ed Roman got a bad rap, I feel. He did fuck a lot of people over but he also did put out a lot of badass shit. A lot of OG HC east coast guys have a lot of amazing stories, then he moved to Las Vegas and the stories continued. His websites and rants back then were always amazing...some education filled with a lot of self serving opinion. Such a shame what happened to his daughter. I figure it would end any man.
 
^ I believe his daughter passed a few years after Ed passed.
 
I liked Ed. He taught me a few things about buying and selling. He and his buddy and partner, Morgan Pettino, gave me 50% off Jackson guitars. 50fucking% is not too bad.
 
Ahhh...Mr. Ed Roman. The asshole who pretended to be so busy and have so much traffic in his shop, charge a $50 fee to even browse his shop? But no worries, that $50 would go towards any purchase you made towards shop. Otherwise, SOL.

What's that? Oh you happen to like relic'd/road worn guitar look? Well fuck you and your aesthetic preferences. Mr. Roman will charge you an extra $500 to literally drag any guitar of your choice in his shop on a piece of rope tied to his truck to drag around the streets of NV.

Class act of a guy. I sure do miss him :thumbsup:
 
I'll say this, and this is zero defense of Ed and his store but the best playing, best sounding Les Paul Standard I've ever heard or bought was from his store over the phone lol.
Bought a mid 90's Les Paul Standard from there over 20 years ago and it's still my number one guitar lol. I've never felt a neck like this one on a Les Paul. It's not 50's, 60's, or LP Custom sized neck...damn thing is perfect. Now he probably shaved the damn thing down lol but other than that it's still as I bought all those years ago. Haven't changed a thing.
 
I’ve read horror stories of him faking vintage LPs and Strats, before he moved to LV and became even shadier.
Kinda on par with Music Ground of England, who would take metal panel 70s JMP Marshalls and turn them into illegit 65-69 plexis.
 
I remember his old website and the giant wall of guitar photos.
 
Man, back in the early days of the internet, some of the garbage on Ed Roman's website was comedy gold.
