Mono/stereo cab input question.

Wanted to confirm this. I have a 2x12 with two inputs. 8ohm mono (right jack) and 16ohm stereo (left jack).

I'm using what I believe to be both speakers in mono but if I switch to stereo would it make the left input only the left speaker and the right input only the right speaker?
 
I guess the UK doesn't know right from left? Lol..jk and I assume that means left and right speaker (when in stereo) which would be the opposite from the back.

I'm using what SAYS left (8ohm mono) and it is reading 7.3 so that's accurate and fine.

BUT I'm getting a Scumback tomorrow and i thought if I moved the switch to 16ohm I could use one jack for the V30 and then switch to the other jack to test the scumback to compare.

Right so that would mean if using one amp...and one cable/one jack I am only using one speaker?

If so each Jack would determine which speaker is being used?

yes, you can compare.
Switch to stereo. Connect both cables, but just one cable to 16 Ohm amp output. Then swap cables on the amp side.
Or:
Switch to stereo. Connect just one cable to the amp's 16 Ohm output and other side to one of the jacks on a box. Then swap it to another jack.

Thanks, that's what I thought but wanted to be sure. Never tried anything like this and didnt want to break anything
 
In any case, you will hear, which speaker plays.
 
So if you have one amp, I'm not clear on how you can ABY these speakers without physically swapping them out on the 'right'.
Because as soon as you unplug amp from right and put in the left, you will be back to mono. The only way to do I think is with 2 amps (loads). And turning volume up and down on each. Maybe I can help with that if you want to come down some time.

Maybe I'm not thinking about this correctly either tho :dunno:

Yes, not correctly :cheers:

Safe method, as described previously:
Switch to stereo. Connect both (2) cables to box, but just one cable to 16 Ohm amp output (other one is unconnected on amp's side). Then swap cables on the amp side. One cable, one speaker. Like having two boxes and swapping them.
 
Yeah essentially, using stereo mode let's you use one speaker at a time with one amp output.

OR you can use both speakers simultaneously by using two amp outputs (if your amp has 2) or two separate amps for that matter.

Either way I'm down to bring the Pitbull and Amarok over and catch up sometime.

I'm drunk...If your amp has two simultaneous outputs then great. I suspect it does not. It is either mono or stereo. Everything is based on the OT.. What little I know I would say no.
