Rick Beto has a great point - Guthrie Govan is the best bad-ass improvisor in the biz!

Every time I watch him playing I am just blown away at how good and unorthodox but how in control of the guitar he is he's a Phenom
 
I love Guthrie . I teach his ideas a lot . His mini me Max Ostro might have even more technical improv . He’s 17 and might be better then every one already on earth lol . Scary
 
I was right there with RB freaking on those videos back then. Bought Erotic Cakes as soon as it dropped and saw The Aristocrats shortly after their first release. He's a beast.
 
I loved those short improv videos, problem is that’s all I ever really liked. I have erotic cakes somewhere, don’t remember it ever doing anything for me though, it bums me out I can’t really get into any of these modern shredders
 
I watched this vid last week and agree GG is incredible. I then rolled into his interview with Dereck trucks…man. Night/day diff in those two styles tone etc. but damn both killer players.
 
Can't argue with that opinion... I think Paul Gilbert and Guthrie are absolutely top of the heap... and Shawn Lane RIP
 
Why didn't Rick put himself in a small "observation" window during clips instead of the other way around?

Annoying. I don't want to watch his air guitar while a master's squashed into a corner.

Exactly bro'. I didn't want to say anything more; the decision speaks for itself IMHO.

I cannot imagine doing that myself. I'm just not that important, ya know? :dunno:
 
Guthrie is a monster player, but I can only take about 10 minutes of him. After a while, all I hear are technical exercises over chord changes. I totally get that he is lightyears beyond my ability. I just don't care for the type of music that he is known for.

I'm convinced he's the greatest living guitar player there is right now.

I've seen him live twice and it's just a fuckin mindblowing experience
 
Can’t stand Beto but he’s right on this. Guthrie Govan is unreal.
