Educate me on the Splawn cabs... Incoming 412 cab!

So, I've pulled the trigger on a 412 Splawn that I found in Italy for a fairly good price - 600 euros. I live in Athens Greece so that means that I have no way to listen to the damn thing and I have no other option than wait for it to arrive! Anyway, these things are super rare here in Europe - never have I seen one in Greece -. It is loaded with V30s, but I am planning to swap 2 of them with 2 UK 75s from 1986. I did my homework and it seems that people love them and that the build quality is meant to be great. Has anyone had / owned one of these ?

Did you guys know that Splawn is coming out with a super oversized metal cabinet (52"x31"x31") that'll blow away the Mesa OS? It's called the Ark of the Cabinet.

no idea with the 412s but holy fuck I regret selling my comp and splawn 212 with house small blocks.

I’ve got one and it’s a solid cab.
I personally HATE it with V30’s though. Compared to my Mesa cabs with two V30’s apiece, and the Splawn with two Mesa V30’s/Redbacks, the mids are obnoxious and honky AF.
It used to be loaded with Greenbacks, and it loved them. I’m going back to those. You’ve definitely got the right idea mixing some 75’s in there. I’d put them in the top row.

Had a 4x12 , it took me a while to find the speakers that really worked for me but when I did boy did love that cabinet. I had to let it go unfortunately. Still have my 2x12 loaded with Greenbacks , love that cabinet too.
What speakers did you dig with it?

I had a 2x12 with creamback 65's when I had a Nitro and a Quick Rod. Definitely a solid cab. I'm using KSR cabs at the moment but Scott's shop is like 5 minutes down the road. So I've been kicking myself for not having some splawn gear. He was much cheaper than most other companies but looks like they have went up. I think a 2x12 is 799 now where they were 650 2 or 3 years ago.

Yeah - I paid $400 even for my 212 new and he custom tolex'd for me. Small Block speakers (basically 55w greenback copies). Tight.

I ended up with G12T-75s up top and Creamback H75s on the bottom and running my Splawns into it . I don’t think it was necessarily the cab or the amp that kept me searching for different speakers. The room I had that cabinet in everything always sounds a little mid heavy and dark for some reason don’t ask me why , still does with the rig I have in there now. That speaker combination I ended up with really sounded cutting and bright but it in a good way

Got two of them. One loaded with the Creamback/V30 mix and the other has a quad of Greenbacks. Both great cabs, built like tanks.
I owned two of them back in the day and they were insanely efficient and threw some low end like no other cabinet. I’d almost say too efficient. I had to sell them and wasn’t local to him anymore so I rock two Marshall cabs now. I’ve always wanted to revisit the Splawn cabs and throw 75Hz creambacks and Splawn small blocks in a cab and see what it does.
