What's the deal with this new TGP spinoff forum?

Oh! those poor bass being violated like that.
I took first place..

I noticed recently that some TGP members started a new forum. I haven't really investigated it but from my discovery over at the Fractal forum these guys were possibly tired of getting banned for things and started their own forum. This was in a thread where Cliff of Fractal was talking about his TGP ban. At the time it almost seemed as mockery but they got Michael Nielsen of Big Hairy Guitars and Satiago Alvarez of Marshall fame to have their own thread in their Ask Me Anything section which I think is cool. I haven't really read through the rest of the forum or even joined for that matter but have been enjoying Michael and Santiago's posts.

I posted this over at Marshall's forum at it got deleted for some reason but their moderators are the only ones I've had problems with in the past.. they are always deleting things, locking threads and editing posts.

Anybody know what this is all about?

Here are links to Michael and Satiago's Threads:

I thought I read Santiago was back at Marshall??

It's actually worse than that.. the first couple months I was there I was just posting memes and GIFs.. funny shit. I got pulled into several PM conversations with multiple people there.

They get together in private group chats and target people they don't agree with politically. Try to trigger them, try to get them to react/respond with something they can then report.

There's a little cabal there that seem to live for that kind of shit. :poop:
Oh hi welcome to Sevenstring.org 😄 🤣

They do the same shit

I've only ever played 6 string guitars, so I never went there.
Me too. There is a bunch of 6 string stuff there. I was a member for a couple years and never even entered any of the 7 or more stringed threads. It's worth checking out really.

Just stay clear of the political threads. It's a den of venomous vipers over there.

I may check it out.

Over the past couple of weeks I've re-joined all the forums I've been perma-bant from in the past.

Hey all,

I'm one of the owners/mods at TGF, my username there is DrewJD82. We did indeed start the forum after TGP's bullshit (my DrewJD82 account was just permabanned on TGP today for foul language....on a forum with a curse filter...). The idea was to have a place that was less-moderated than TGP but without the politics/religion and keeping it 'clean' enough so people can view freely at work, since most of us are posting during the day while at work. Which really just means we put a curse filter on and I write my sentences like "Some f*cking c*nt at TGP probably saw me make my own curse filter and c*nted the f*ck out over it and reported me like a c*nt." 😂

Every forum has it's own vibe and several of us agreed on how we'd want to run our own forum, so we made it happen. I wouldn't say we thought this place was "too extreme", I've been a member here for over a decade. I won't speak for the other owners, but I'm personally sick of politics. When you're a non-partisan who can't stand the current state of either party, dealing with the reality that both parties do indeed exist is enough bullshit for me, I come to forums specifically to get away from that shit. Alas, Rig-Talk already exists and it's safe to say that those who post on gear forums know they can come here to discuss/argue politics, there's no need for anyone to try to recreate it somewhere else, IMO.

The vibe of TGF is mainly comedic, us mods/owners certainly don't take ourselves too seriously and fortunately, the members who have joined are cool enough they don't even make us do our jobs. There was an initial push of modeling users as a lot of the issues we had at TGP started in the Digital & Modeling sub, well, Rig-Talks own cunt Donnie B And His Merry Gang Of 200 Cunt Alts played a part in that, along with some moderators for a company that recently released a product that rhymes with Wad Vortex, but I believe a lot of that has been covered here previously. I think it's probably a 50/50 mix now of amp users/modeling guys.

I started posting on forums when I was 14, when Jemsite was in it's infancy. I'm 40 now and I've met some amazing friends and have had some awesome life experiences as the result of posting on a forum. I'm a gear nerd, I love all gear from all eras and love talking/learning more about it. There's zero desire to be "the big dog in town", we just wanted to create a bullshit-free forum.

:rawk:

Good on ya mate. ;)

Good luck with running the forum man. It has to be a labour of love IMHO or else peeps of the ilk you mentioned will bring you down / live rent-free in your head.

If you ever want or need to shoot the shit about it, I'm here bro'.

I appreciate that man, thanks!

I’ve definitely seen all the crazy shit that occurs on forums over the years, along with the day to day headaches. It’s inevitable when you welcome a large portion of the general public to come hang out. But you also get some gold every now and then, like that Larry thread. :hys: I’m halfway through it and had to take a break but I can‘t wait to pick it back up!
