I don’t know man; he has his own style and much of what he does is pretty cool and unique imo.
He’s definitely an example of a guy who really changed/morphed into quite the player when Creed ended/AB started.
Reminds me of Zakk in that way…basic pentatonic player with cool vibrato but became a monster player down the line.
I met Mark in Gainsville decades ago at
The Hardback.
(f’n legendary Gainsville watering hole).
They were working on the demo tape,
Cool dude, had his Chili’s shirt on as he just got off work.
This is what trips me out man, he used to hold a spatchula in his hand at Chili’s,
- and now he has a signature guitar from PRS in his hand..WHOA.
Unfortunately, getting struck by lightning twice is
omnipotently difficult,
and Creed were a massive worldwide commercial success.
He’s cemented with Scott Stapp, those two had
the magic that made the money,
THE BEST was when Brad King was owner of Cameron amps and had Tremonti come into the amp room and demo a CCV.
Brad’s all mid-life crisis gone wild looking and turning the adjusters, Tremonti wasn’t too impressed.
He stops playing with a smirk on his face and just hands the guitar to the dude next to him, gets up and leaves.
On his way out Brad told him he could “get him one”.
Mark just smirked again,
-as he walked the fuck out.
Legendary.
