Just sold an item on Reverb.com, and the buyer messages me as soon as he submits payment saying, "Hey, can you wait till next week to ship it. Imma be outta town until after New Year's day."

WTF

Not only would that put me in the position of violation Reverb's terms, it's would be inconvenient for me, and ruin my "Quick Shipper" status on the site.

Why in the hell would someone make an offer on an item, then act like they're all surprised by the purchase they made, and start asking for stupid accommodations like that ?

I'm guessing he wanted the item and bought it then to make sure no one else grabbed it. Probably didn't think about any inconveniences to you.

Well, surprise motherfucker !

I shipped this morning.

:p

The buyer always has the option to put a delivery hold with the shipping company until he's back in town, that's what I would have done. Just don't be shocked when he bitches about it and tries to give you bad feedback. You did your part promptly as expected, the rest is on him.

If you have an account with one of the shipping services (FedEx, UPS, etc.), I would have just created the shipment with the send date posted dated by one week in order to get the tracking number to enter into Reverb so you can get paid. Then hold on to it for a week. I would, however, make sure that the buyer understood that I wasn't responsible for anything that might happen during that week and that I consider that payment a non-refundable deposit to hold it.

Dude might be headin' to Vegas and come back skint broke and needing money. LOL

There's a few items I wanted to buy, but passed because of the very reason of not wanting all have the temp workers mishandling the gear, the huge increase in shipping volume and associated risk off loss, and prevalence of porch pirates. That said, with reverb, all they care about is the entering of the tracking number. You can enter it now and keep quick shipper status,, but not drop it off yet.

Can't stop you from adding tracking. You'll maintain quick shipper. I've done it before. I've had people tell me to hold off, not a problem. Print the label, slap it on, get paid, and sit on it.

I already shipped it earlier this morning.

I took the advice from others here in this thread and messaged the buyer - told him to contact UPS with the tracking number I posted in the order and ask them to hold it until next week (or until he advises them to release it for delivery).

Not sure how this puts you out, either way you make a trip to ship... If it's the most important thing to you, why not create the label and input tracking to protect your quick shipperness, then drop off next week as requested?

Dude asks you for a solid so you ridicule them for it on rig talk? Well done...

No it wasn't. All op said was it violates terms/ risks quick shipper but there is an obvious solution to that problem so yea, whatever...
Instead the item gets to sit in a transit depot or on this dude's porch till they get back in town which sounds way better and less risky than it sitting at your house for another week.

Guess I just don't get how this is a real problem. But I guess that is the way of the world today...

Anyway, happy holidays.

Yes, I am. For as much bitching as people do about shipping and damage on this forum, please explain how this item sitting at ups or FedEx or on this person's porch during winter weather for another week somehow protects your interests better than it sitting at your home. It'll probably all work out in the end, but more time in the shippers hands increases risk that it won't? It's all good man, different perspectives...

I don't think anyone is looking at Quick Shipper badges when deciding to buy something on Reverb and I sincerely doubt one slower shipping instance removes the badge.

When someone asks you to not ship for a week you can still print a label and enter the tracking info to get paid and then just not drop the item off for a week.

See post #12.

It's been sorted out.
