My new Warmoth / Charvel build

I put this together recently. Very happy with how it turned out.

Charvel San Dimas body

Warmoth modern maple neck - standard thin, compound radius 10-16, SS jumbo frets , tung oil

Schaller lockmeister 6 tremolo

FU-Tone trem stopper (dive bomb only) and noiseless springs

Little blue cut off switch

Dimarzio gravity storm neck

Dimarzio Utopia bridge

FU-Tone pickup mounting system

3 way pickup blade switch

Hipshot locking tuners for quicker string change

That looks great man! Pretty sure this is my next build as well—need a Floyd guitar with a big fat neck!

I also forgot and I added it to the specs above ⬆️. I also put in FU-Tone pickup mounting system under the pickups.

I believe the total ran me around 1100-1200
 
Looks great, I plan on putting something together this year at some point. Pretty sure I want to go with that same compound radius I’m just unfamiliar with how a couple of the different neck manufacturers’ neck profiles match up with the necks I’ve used and like.

How thin is that Warmoth “standard thin?” What would you compare it to?

The ‘current’ Warmoth Standard Thin is .800 at the 1st Fret and .850 at the 12th Fret. To me, it is super comfortable - thin enough to feel speedy without being ‘Wizard’ thin (and Warmoth offers a Wizard profile if you like a really slim neck: .75” at the first fret and.820 at the 12th).

My first Warmoth build was back in the late 80s and I still have that neck - it was also considered to be a ‘standard’ profile at the time, but it is definitely thicker than their current offering: probably closer to .850 at the first fret and .900 at the 12th. I think they thinned down their ‘standard’ profile over the years.

I’ve got a pair of Warmoth Wizard profile necks in my stable and I have to admit, as I have gotten older, I much prefer the slightly larger ‘standard’ profile. Something about those Wizard thin necks actually makes my left hand more sore after a long bout of practice.

I think you’d really like the current Standard Thin profile.

The thinnest neck I’ve liked is on the Schecter KM6 MkII I have which is a “thin C” 12-16” compound radius but I don’t know the actual measurements of how thick it is. I like that neck but it’s still not my favorite. I think I’d like the 10-16” radius a little more and maybe a little more meat under the palm.

Any Ibanez I’ve had in the past I could not bond with at all and one in particular (an S 7 string) made my fretting hand cramp up.

Thanks everyone! This is my 4th Warmoth build - ( except this one I’m using a Charvel body ) using the standard thin neck and I gotta say this one feels thicker than my other 3 necks. I’ll have to figure it out… I’m thinking I can check it with a caliper?
The Warmoth standard thin neck profiles to me feel very close to a charvel or my modern c shape strat necks. That modern c shape neck profile seems to work best for my hands.

I actually really like the “Deep C” neck on my American Pro II Telecaster. I’d love to be able to put together a guitar with a neck that felt like that except with the 10-16” radius instead of the straight 9.5” of the Tele.
