Is an RC5 too complicated for a cave man

Need a loop station to work on my solos
Backing drum tracks a plus
Want something with memory so I don't have to rerecord everything the next day.

I just want to use the presets
I'm not good with complicated functions.

What do you say......

I purchased one a few months ago for the same reason. The RC 5 has lots of cool features and quite a few menus and pages to navigate. I have watched some videos and they make it seem pretty easy. After watching the videos I go “Oh I got this” only to sit down with the unit and have forgotten everything I watched. I need to just sit down with the unit and utilize the manual.

I think it works well and with a little time and patience most anybody should be able to move smoothly through the menus.

That's what I'm afraid of.

I have a DR rhythm machine from the late 80s I still can't work.

With this I think I'll be ok if I just use the presets

Only looking to make short tracks to solo over with basic drums

Nothing crazy or editing features for me.

You sound like me! ? Yeah I had one of those DR machines as well and I couldn’t do shitz on it. I have had some rack equipment before that after a LONG time I got decent at making presets and I did program it to work with a midi pedal. However if I didn’t mess with it about every other day I usually would go back to start when I needed to do something with it.
I don’t think there is a HUGE learning curve with the RC 5

I bought one about a year ago. Messed with it a bit, it's been sitting on my shelf since...gave up on it. Mainly because the AxeFx has a looper that's easy to enable/disable and has very simple controls, so I use that instead.

RC3 is dirt simple, but i haven't tried a 5. I thought my old Boss DR-660 was very easy to use as long as you can count beats in your head and don't need the screen-shot visual.

I was looking at that.
I don't think it has a memory
Plus I like the drum feature on the RC5

I have a EH 720 looper, I bought it for the same reasons where I wanted something simple but that had memory (you can save like 9 or 10 presets). Every function is accessible directly with a physical knob so there is no menu scrolling which is cool. I must say that the footswitch is not the best though, it's a good quality switch (feels solid) but for some I struggle a bit more to get the timing exact when starting/ending the loop compared to other loopers I've tried.

RC-3 has some drums but only a couple beats are useful for me, but what I always use is the hi-hat chirp on quarters so it's like a click track without the annoying click sound. It also has a huge memory and you can change the foot-switching format to the way you like.
