Langner 4*12 Speaker Cabinet

Hi..My best buddy has a Prototype of the Langner ATC 1 and to his 50Th Birthday I`am searching for a Langner 4*12 Cabinet.
As far as I know only 8 were build, so it will be not so easy to get one. Is there anybody who has one and can give me the Dimensions or can take some Pictures( Inside /Outside/ Speakers/Which Wood is used/ Angle of the Front Plate) so i can build one on my own?

Hey Topper, welcome!
I don't have exact dimensions, that's gonna be tough to get, but I do have some pics. You can likely get very close. Overall size can be judged by the Marshall cab next to it in one of the pics, the angle on the upper pair is where it will get tricky. If you could scale the remaining front to back measurement from the upper section by the measurement of the bottom, you would be very close, if not dead on..

Well I can't get the image of it next to a Marshall to load. Have no idea why. Ignore this pic, its the wrong one..

So Heres one near a Marshall cab, it appears to have a inch or so more between the speakers in the center, but the Marshall head sitting on it seems to be just as wide (?)
Hard to tell from this pic. I know the cab itself was supposed to be baltic birch, it appears the panels the speakers are mounted in are something else..
The design was supposedly free of any phase cancellation when recording and had a huge "sweet spot"
I have no idea if that's true, but Todd never struck me as a smoke blower..

Woohoo, Thank you so much JTyson, thats what I was searching for. With this picture`s I should be able to build one .
Especially the Images from inside are very helpful for the angle of the Frontplate and also wich Speakers were used in
the Cabinet.

No worries, that's amazing that you found an ATC, Ive never even seen a picture of one aside from Todds brochure!
Good luck, let us know how it turns out, Ive thought about trying to build one for years but never followed through with it.
 
Oh and some pics of the ATC would be really cool if that's possible..
Its like seeing a unicorn! :LOL: :LOL:
 
I will send you some pictures when my buddy made them. As i said it`s a Prototype and it looks a little different to the
original in the brochure. It`s a very long Story how this thing came to Germany, but it is 100% an Atc prototype because the Guy who sold it to my friend met Todd at an Music Exhibition in Berlin and got 2 of this amps for further development ( His shop is called Audio Lunge Berlin)... It has 4 channels ( clean, light crunch/crunch and boost), 5 preamp tubes ( maybe 7 ) and 4 6550 tubes and is about 10 cm more wide than an regular Marshall Head. I will send you Pictures when i have them. Also this guy in Berlin has an complete wiring scheme. He pulled it out when we were there for a replacement of the tubes, so if you want to build one ;-)...It sounds absolut fantastic

Oh, I gotcha
I thought you had found one out in the wild. Ive literally watched this stuff for nearly 40 years and never seen one. I think there are more Dumbles out there than ATC1's. So the cab is likely slightly wider too, given that the head is a bit wider. Great stuff.

Here are the Pics...The Brass sign on the Amp ist from the guy in Berlin who got the Prototype Amps from Todd Langner
This guy said the wiring was an absolute mess and the amp had three ground loops. He also said that the Amp is an DCP 01 together with a Poweramp ( 4* 6550 Tubes). I will print a Langner Lettering for the Amp and the Speaker Cabinet as soon as i have my 3 d Printer to honor Todd`s work.

Very cool! Would love to see up this ones skirt
Pretty much what I assumed as far as taking the DCP and tying it to standard power amp

You got the (5) 12ax7's for the DCP then (1) extra for the Phase inverter into PA

Todd,
Looking at the last 2 pictures shown, what is that 7th preamp tube used for......any ideas?
It looks like there is a loop, so maybe it is a tube buffered loop?
 
Im not sure, I didnt notice the 7th tube until you mentioned it LOL. FX loop would be a great guess but unless we can see the insides no way to tell for sure.
 
Hi...If you want to know what`s inside or want to build one on your own Google/Bing Audio repair Berlin. This Guy ( Christoph Naß) has complete wiring schematics of this Amplifier as Todd Langner gave him two prototypes (One on the Pictures)for further development. He said he had to change the wiring a lot but the Amp did not loose his soul. On his Website he gives schematics for many Amps and other stuff for a little donation. Sorry for my bad english
