The specific word 'militia' as well as your phrase 'common defense' implies an organized effort to a degree.

Would this effort require unfettered access to firearms 24/7 for every single adult that wants it?
Do you see that right as guaranteed with no doubt in the current writing of 2A?
nope.

see above.

George Mason is unambiguous. And he helped write the Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights.

Minutemen in Lexington and Concord. Militia. Common defense. Not organized. Facts.

As George stated, all citizens are the militia, responsible to be "well-regulated" in their ability to "keep and bear arms".

Which "shall not be infringed".

I'm with George.

Re:24/7 : yep

can’t very well provide timely and responsive common defense without 24/7 readiness, i reckon

“Oh shit Fred, the Canadians are invading! They already burned down my barn and put ham slices in the water tower!”

“Gosh darn it Bill, it’s the middle of the damn night! I can’t get my fowling piece until the range opens at noon, go back to bed for chrissakes!”

I'm done guys. No minds will ever get changed. I'm old and honestly don't care.
I like guns. I don't feel the need to have one on my hip when I run errands.

Some of the people who own weapons and scream loudest about 2A freak me out.
That's all.

Cheers.

Not the most accurate rifle. Not the lightest either. Would wreak havoc on equipment. Wouldn’t want to get hit by a round from this either. It is fun as hell to shoot.

Is that thing capable of bringing down a hostile charging libtard with one shot ? Libtard skull is two inches thick and has taken repeated rounds at 10 yards from a 30.06 without even chipping . See extended jaw and giant ceramic tile sized teeth below .

50 BMG.

We were getting a pretty consistent 3 moa at 300 yards. Not the most accurate, but if that thing hits a target it is done.

Gonna assume you've seen the movie Shooter. (book's even better)
How accurate do you think some of the big gun stuff in that flick was?

and more importantly....

Just how much would a Pepsi bottle silence a long range gun like that? :ROFLMAO:

Absolutely. Vaporized. This thing can breach armored vehicles. The only remnants would be a very fine splatter and the distinct smell of smugness.

We nailed a watermelon with it. Just for shits and giggles. The only remnant we found was the smell of watermelon. A chunk of it flew so far out of the range that we couldn’t find it.

Never saw the movie.

I was sniper qualified in the Army (SOTIC). Most movie shit with guns is wildly off base imo.

A pepsi bottle on a Barret 50 BMG? Wouldn’t do it. You cannot imagine the energy that thing puts out. I would be concerned for the plastic bottle fragmenting and the high speed debris it would create.

There were guys standing 15-20’ to the side of the rifle at about a 20-30 degree angle. It would actually knock their hats off, move their clothing. They said it felt like a punch to the chest.

Shooting it is a bit better. Still rattles your teeth and blurs your vision for a split second.

The unfired round is longer than your hand.

This isn’t really a good long range anti-personell shooter. It has the power but not the accuracy. For long range I would use .308, .338 Lapua, or similar loads and a sub-moa rifle.

The Barrett at best is a 3-4 moa shooter. So 3-4“ groupings at 100 yards. 6-8” at 200 yards. 9-12” at 300 yards. So for anti-personell I wouldn’t want to shoot more than 250 yards.

It only goes downhill from there if you have shitty loads or do not have the skill to use it.

This is a great anti-material rifle. At 1000 yards it will shoot 30-40”… which is plenty of accuracy if you are shooting a light armored vehicle, artillery piece, vehicle.

Read your entire post but just gonna reply to this.
You really should check it out.

The question about the bottle is based on a scene in the flick.

If I were on overwatch, supporting a team no way in hell I would have considered a pepsi bottle. I doubt it would do much of anything on a high powered rifle anyway.

I would use a “can” (suppressor) that was authorized/issued for the weapon I was firing if suppression was to be used.

What is does is suppress flash… really well. It also diffuses report making it more difficult to determine where you are firing from. They may reduce the noise by 20-30 dB, but they don‘t make supersonic rounds and high powered rifles silent or hearing safe. They do take some of the high frequency out so the report is altered, but it remains really loud in the frequencies that are present.

Name another amendment or ANY part of the constitution where the term " The People" refers to anything other than the citizenry.

Like I said, no one is going to agree or change any minds.
It's a terribly written amendment - IMO.

Very nice! I have a Barrett M99 with 32" heavy barrel, 50 BMG. It's more anti-materiel than long range accuracy, especially if using API rounds.

For long range, I usually use my Keltec RFB Hunter - 7.62 NATO with 24" barrel.
