Then, as mentioned in the articles, the effects of social media and being connected, and the dopamine effects of likes...

Right on. I’m definitely glad I live away from a major city.
I’m much closer to gen X than Z but I know a lot of people around my age that got pretty fucked up with anxiety. We went through Columbine during our formative years. We watched 9/11 happen live in our classrooms. And now many of us had to raise or give birth to children during a pandemic. Not to mention our healthcare costs more than our parents mortgage. People are on edge!

Each time a pilot had to use the john the flight attendants would first barricade the aisle with the service
cart and then stand behind it looking like they were ready for a fight.

Was SD to JFK so a long flight.
The whole cabin seemed both somber and tense at the same time.
Cut the air with a knife feel.

Most people actually joined in applause once we were on the ground.

Same. First flight leaving KC for ATL. I recall not knowing if the airport would open while on my way there and contemplated driving back with my rental car. Plane was nearly empty, most of the shops in the airport were closed, ATL airport was deserted when we landed.

Pilot said a few words to everyone on the plane, thanking us for being there, and then he came back and shook hands with all the passengers, the 15 - 20 of us on the plane
