I have gotten lazy. I used to run a 50 foot speaker cable to my daughters bedroom and mic a 4x12 with a couple of mics. then I would spend hours trying to decide if it sounded good or not. Now I just use my Neural SLO-100 plugin and I have happy as a tick on a bloodhound. plus I am not dropping hundreds on mics and also not pissing off my daughter anymore haha.. the last being the most important obviously.
I switched to the dark side last year, and went with their JP plug-in. It's extremely hard to beat when it comes to tone, value, and ease of use.
I ended up getting the Rabea, Gojira, & Darkglass (bass) ones a few months later, but honestly it only took one to cover all the ground I really needed.

I just grabbed the JP and the Parallax when they had their birthday sell last week. the JP is badass. I also used STL AmpHub and it has got some great amps. I really dig the Splawn QR they have, and it is close to the real deal.

I am just picturing a little girl sitting there playing with her dolls, and in the corner is a halfstack mic'ed up blasting away riffs...lol.
Dude... seriously. you are not far from the truth. I think she may be traumatized now. she is paying me back by making cheerleader, horse riding lessons, Fkn lululemon and whatever else she can get me for LOL...

Just wait until she wants a Custom Shop LP...then you are really in for it!!

If i was doing it all over again this would be the route I’d go
:p Oh man I bought a 412 + sm57 because of your clips ha. I have a driftwood loadbox and tonex and the tonex software gets more use at the moment. The LB does sound good but I really get sick of the IR shuffle sometimes

My man, feel free to message me with any questions on Reaper. Happy to help. I record all my videos with Reaper, and also, my bands.

With that said, your latency issues are almost guaranteed to be driver or settings related. These modern interfaces are all damn near undetectable when it comes to latency unless you're running a super higher sample rate.

Most of the other stuff like metronome, routing, etc. You can search individually on Youtube. That's what I had to do, because Reaper is not the most intuitive DAW out there. I learned step by step because otherwise, it was info overload

Ha! I was watching you jcm900 vid this morning. I updated my drivers and reaper version yesterday. I'm gonna play with it today and see what happens.

those were cool 20 years ago, now they are about as cool as someone still using a flip phone from that same era. its 2023, everyone on this forum should have a $150 mic and interface or a IR box or some way to record actual clips.

Agreed for sure. I only read the OP and was replying based on this part - half jokingly. :D

I have no experience with it and have no idea how to proceed. Every time I try to record I spend more time trying to figure out how to record and change settings than playing.

who makes the cheapest "decent" box with ir's to run into? Surprised with my behringer uphoria....it's a decent little interface for nothing. should probably just start looking for the suhr....
