Ya had to do alot to them to get them to sound good but worse was the reliability.

did anyone ever actually buy one of those Dime amps? not sure ive ever seen one discussed.

This isn't a Good Thing. Those Amps were bad, Terrible Really.
You could get them to sound good with a od or eq pedal out front you just had to tweak them really weird.

Mine stopped working about a year ago and the x2s sounded good but were also unreliable and no one will work on them.

Randall RG1503-212 works for me; in spite of UPS attempts to destroy the amp; the frame is broken in 3 places, and the caster wheels are unserviceable, but the amp works,

it's heavy; it's loud; and channel 3 gain saturation is impressive, even compared to my Engl E530 + E850/100 (which has a much better clean).

Bingo. I tried to have Bruce Egnater(the guy that designed the X2 for Randall) fix one of my X2 heads. Total nightmare. I got it back with a broken head shell, and it only worked for 2 minutes. He said he wouldn't try to fix it again. Abject failure.

Besides Randy Rhoads, Dime had the most polarizing tone in metal. Perfect example of love the player, hate the tone, so what's the point of this?
Dimebag fans buy up his merch, guitars and gear still and they think it can probably sell.

I don’t know anyone outside of forums who dosent like dimes tone, and the ones that do aren’t usually even metal fans.
Before he was killed, almost all Dime related gear threads were about bashing his tone and proclivity towards endorsements. This would have been when HCAF was the main gear forum. Personally I love his tone but only for him. I wouldn't chase down a single aspect of it for myself.

Thats like saying pussy isnt good. I understand tone is subjective but for metal Dime and Hetfield are my favorites.

Dime fans must have some serious disposable income to constantly be buying into the nostalgia.

Also never been a fan of the "all slice and no thump" solid state fizz, but then again people are willing to spend thousands to obtain it.

Oh I remember, it made zero sense to me back then too. I can understand someone not wanting that tone for themselves, but I can’t think of a tone that fit the music better. Randy’s tone I can see not liking, I don’t know how one puts on VDOP though and says this sucks
