Yamaha guitars are highly underrated

I bought a Yamaha revstar res20 (i think it's called) for the hell of it and I gotta say it plays so well and sounds excellent for such a cheap instrument. I'm surprised, It's better than many guitars priced twice as much IMO, like many of the LTD's i've played and owned. The pickups in it are great and they even feature a low cut pull knob, which does what you would think, high-pass filters the guitars tone, makes it tighter and even makes it sound kinda similar to a single coil on cleans. The guitar's looks might not be everyones bag though, it's almost like a cross between a SG and a LP in shape.

I also got a Yamaha rgx612 which is a supertrat from the late 80's, it's been my number one for years. Killer instrument.

I guess only fusion guys play Yamaha guitars though, hey?

they're the Civic or Camry of electric guitars IMO. Great reliable transportation, but...

I always wanted the Wes Borland sig Yamaha hollowbody but they are very expensive now. The Ty Tabor sigs were killer too.

The Japanese Pacificas are better than any fender strat I've ever played ?

Weiki turned me onto them and the cigarette man speaks facts

I have a Yamaha Troy Van Leeuwen signature semi-hollow body...excellent guitar.

Yamaha hold themselves to a very high standard in everything they make. I had an Yamaha Image series solid body, the one with the Floyd. It was a superior instrument. I miss it a lot.

I played a Yamaha Pacifica when I was in tenth grade so 1992 I think? Anyway, I used to run into Bill Leverty from Firehouse a lot and he recommended them to me. I got mine new for 350 and it was a damn good guitar. I haven't tried any recent models but I only recall hearing positive reports.

Yamaha is fucking badass. Aciustics are great. I have a martin, my old guitar instructor had a yamaha. He tried to explain why. I was like, i can hear why. I have played one and felt why also.

Their electrica inhavent tried, but they make some of the best motorcycles. Very impressed with those.

They make outstanding engines, like the 2zz for the supra.

I absolutely love the sound of my U3 yamaha upright piano. Like angels singing when i play

Yes they are great for the money. I picked up an RS 320 using my rewards points with Musicians Friend Best free guitar I ever had and still a bargain at what they sell for at full retail.

I've always loved them; used to have a Pac 302S that was phenomenal

Had one of the original Pacificas (made with Warmoth parts).. serial 069 I believe I sold it to someone here - it was killer. Never should have sold it. Great guitars

I would love to try a Revstar, but the way they redesigned them with the body slightly bigger doesn't quite appeal to me.

I have a hard time shaking off the preconceptions I have about Yamaha because I started on a Pacifica that I hated. It wasn't a terrible shell, but it did have the worst hardware it could. The biggest thing, I guess, is I was frustrated because I wanted a Les Paul, but my parents got me a Strat-type, which is kinda the polar opposite, LOL. It's silly, I know, but sometimes, it's hard to shake negative experiences off.

But I'd be willing to give the Revstars a try.

I used to own an '80s Yamaha acoustic guitar. I don't recall what happened to it. It was a good acoustic guitar for me when I was starting out as a teenager. I bought this Yamaha Pacifica 303-12 12 string electric guitar used from Guitar Center a few years ago since I've always wanted an electric 12 string guitar, but didn't like the Danelectro 12 string guitars, and the Jerry Jones 12 string electric guitar were no longer made and were selling for a lot of money now. The guitar was made in Taiwan by Yamaha for about 2 years. The Pacfica 303-12 itself has OEM gold Gotoh tuners and 12 string electric guitar bridge hardware.

My Yamaha SBG-500 was one of my best playing guitars ever. I was a young fool and sold it to fund an Ibanez RG760 because l wanted the shark tooth inlay and couldn’t afford the 1399 or 1799 price tag for the jem 777 at the time ‘89. It was a fuck up on all accounts. Got rid of a great guitar. Bought a guitar that looked cool but terrible set up or something and didn’t buy the jem for peanuts at the time. ?
