The Second Amendment and David Hogg

Well regulated as in well armed, well TRAINED, and well ORGANIZED. We need rules and regulations that stipulate what is and what isn't defined as trained and organized.

No, "we" don't. What is needed is to roll back the infringements in place, and curb the leftist bullshit that keeps infringing. The entire crux is an instruction to government (as are the entire BoR), and in this case - as even all gun grabbers already know - shall not infringe on citizens' rights to arms.

But, go ahead and continue the Troller's Tap Dance ....

In other words, PLX, your side has no spine, only an escape route. I don't know why you'd brag about cowardice, but hey, you do you.

WELL REGULATED...

The active duty military around the world and National Guard in all 50 states are "well regulated". The "informal militias" do not hold to these standards, therefore they do not meet the definition of a "well regulated" militia as described by our founding document. They are private citizens. That's a huge difference.

"Well regulated" is the opposite of ragtag bunches of people who want to kill those who disagree with them, and that's what many of these groups are, groups of potential killers.

"Godless liberals", "communists", Democrats, progressives, etc. are legitimate targets in their mindset. After all, they think they're saving the republic by doing away with those they don't like.

He’s the one that survived the school shooting he wasn’t at when it happened, then started an anti-gun movement on surviving a school shooting.

FALSE. He was there.

{"It was 14:30 when David Hogg heard the first shot.
The 17-year-old was in environmental science class at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Florida. The teacher had just passed out worksheets.
When he heard the bang, his classmates turned to each other. That sounded like a gun, they said.
The teacher closed the door. Within seconds, the fire alarm went off.
"We instinctively walked outside," says David. "We thought it was a drill."
As David's class walked towards the evacuation zone, they saw a "tsunami" of people running towards them. They turned and followed the crowd down the corridor.

What they didn't realise was this: they were heading towards the shooter."

It does not say CITIZEN. It says WELL REGULATED MILITIA. If you want to TRY to make a point it helps to at least know what you are talking about.

I don't think your argument has any standing in terms of legal grounds which is why 2A rights have expanded since the days where few states allowed concealed carry.

2A rights have expanded mainly due to the massive influence of the firearm lobby and pro gun organizations these past 100 years.
I'm going by the text as it was written centuries ago.

WELL REGULATED MILITIA does not equal every citizen - no matter how hard you try and twist the words.

Did you know that all 50 states have laws regarding civilian militias?

I'm not really disagreeing with you it's just that you're not an attorney though so it's just your personal interpretation.

The regular citizenry compose an informal militia. I don't think well regulated means what you think it means which is why I suggested you read up on the Dick Act/Militia act of 1903. It's long established law. I guess that is what you are up against if you want to make legal changes to it.

It's actually called the Reserve Militia and means all healthy MEN between the ages of 17 and 45. I'm not sure you are quite clear on the Dick Act and how it relates to current day. If anything, the National Defense Act of 1916 overrode a lot of the earlier ambiguities and increased the level of requirements for militia (or National Guard by then) membership. You had to earn militia (and gun) membership/ownership.

If was never about EVERY adult citizen having the right to own guns.

I mean you can make your point to me all day about it but we aren't lawyers.

If it was never about every adult citizen having the right to own guns then the people who wrote it must not have gotten through to any civilians on the deal because this country has weapons written into it's DNA. The sunday afternoon shoot is basically an American tradition.

I'm not arguing culture, I'm arguing against the bozos who scream I CAN OWN ANY WEAPONS I WANT CAUSE OF 2A!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gun nuts make 2A out to be this carte blanche for gun ownership. IT IS NOT.

Politicians make the laws that lawyers and courts interpret. In a lot of the country you can not get elected unless you have the blessings of the NRA. That has nothing to do with the founding fathers. That's all about profits and testosterone.

Nothing personal Vonnie B. I'm enjoying the back and forth and thanks for the reading rec. Learned a lot!

You're not wrong on a lot of that in terms of having the gun lobby behind you to get elected. Anti gun stances are also just not very popular in rural areas. The lobby is deep because even democrats take money from it.

I have a rifle cause I like to eat wild game. I have a pistol to have portable firepower in case of aggressive loose dogs or aggressive loose people. I have been deep into guns and ammo, more so in the past, but I still have reloading and bullet casting equipment and the know how and would purchase an M240 bravo if I could afford one and didn't need to deal with NFA registrations, which I consider unconstitutional. One of my best friend's is an FFL holder. So my take is radically different but I don't take any offense to what you are saying. At least you are doing some research and digging to make you claim, that is a credit to you.

I gotta get cleaned up for a gig, catch you later.

So my take is radically different.

In regard to the tools themselves? Probably not. This is all I have these days but I love shooting and was actually quite the marksman before my eyesight went to hell.

I made a mistake. It says, in part, " the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." In whole, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
I could caps lock "people" for you. Would that help? Would you feel offended, or superior to someone else?

Now, any of us here could continue to provide opinions and cases relating to what that all means. I won't offer mine because I'm pretty sure you'll just continue to act as a typical fudd and nit-pick at the Constitution, like the other fudd-troll that showed up around here about the same time.

You should be looking into a mirror when you spew your self-righteous BS.

If you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun thru the door, Biden says.
