I just looked up Sardinia. I don't think you need Jim Jordan as your excuse to move there, it looks pretty sweet. The Greek isles also look pretty incredible if you have the cash. Would love to travel but a guy can only afford to engage only so many endeavors in a lifetime.

Yup. The case was just re-opened and a number of ex students are going to testify against him. GOP doesn't care about that stuff since he's ultra-MAGA.

Anthony Bourdain's ex-wife was from there and he did an episode with her while visiting her family. I fell in love with the place HARD!

Americans are always seen as fat, weird, loud and naive outsiders everywhere in Europe. Moving to Sardinia would be a mistake on the long term.

When you start looking around the Med there are a ton of really nice spots IMO. I'd like to hit Montenegro. There is a sweet monastery in Budva with a legend level abbott I would like to see, among other stops in that region of course.

A cursory search shows at most he didn't report the abuse. Pretty messed up if it's true but just judging by appearances, he does kind of look like a guy who would be oblivious to a lot of stuff. A lot of university staff are pretty out to lunch in general. I had professors who didn't even show up to their own classes, lol.

Why do you feel the need to immediately jump to his defense with 'what if' excuses. A number of students testified that he had direct knowledge and was 100% involved in the cover up. You know sometimes people are just flat out guilty of what they are accused of.

I prefer to view people as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law because that's how the system is supposed to work. But yeah it sounds like we have a pretty messed up situation there that should be addressed before he is speaker.

Legitimate question though: if you suspect abuse, but don't actually see or receive reports of any taking place first hand, what do you do? Would it be slanderous to go above that person and report your suspicions? Based on a hunch or intuition alone?

Make time to take the suspected ABUSED person aside and broach the subject with them in a roundabout way at first and then, depending on the responses, take it from there.

I don’t know of any school system whose SOP does not include reporting any hint of abuse you may be pickup up on if it pertains to a student or employee.
Mind you, there are people within the schools to report it to who are responsible for following up on it.
