Loved his tone with Lion, BMR, his solo stuff, and his early time with DIO. I think that's all the Suhr/Golub modded Marshall? I also think most of that was W/D/W & goosed by the PQ3.

I think the ENGL artist (if that relationship stayed together longer)or his Marshall sig that never got released could have been really interesting.
This tone isn't horrible, but it's not amazing either

I know for a hot minute there was a Suhr sig amp that was in the works. Of course, that would have been somewhere around $4k... I'm sure he will make the Blackstar amps sound killer live.

Never played one - but all the clips of this particular series of Blackstar amps suggests they do an admirable job of creating that OG JCM-800 vibe: as long as you put something in front for leads and add sone sort of time effect out back, you have a perfectly ‘workable’ sound to feed the sound man. This also shows how much of what we identify as Doug’s sound or tone really is in his hands - his attack, note selection and phrasing.

Welcome to last week... he sounds good to me though. He's boosting them a lot with his sig pedal but end of day, anything Marshall like with a boost and him playing will sound like him. Tone is in the _________ after all.

They are playing a lot of dive bar and smaller venues this tour so a great amp may sound just as muddy as anything. He sounded really good when I saw them in my local low ceiling no acoustic treatment venue. I think that's a good nod to Blackstar. A Suhr sig amp would have been cool though.

You sir, broke the cardinal rule... how dare you suggest that his tone doesn't come out of an unattainable modded vintage amp! Check yourself.

I like his sensibilities a lot but tire easily on his fast upper register lead style. But his basic style on rocking out with riffs and lead breaks in chord positions I dig a lot. This Amp would be worth a demo but I have a strange feeling I won’t sound like he did in this video..?
At least being a Blackstar, regular people like most of us, might actually have a chance to play it in person. Couldn’t give a shit about some boutique monstrosity I’ll never get to try without buying.

As someone who recently demo'd these amps....I can't imagine anyone choosing them over a Suhr, Bogner, or most of the other high end options out there. There had to have been a payday involved.

“Former Whitesnake replacement guitarist #6 endorses new amp line he will display at shows, while really using his unobtainium gear behind the back line.”
This.

I suspect he still runs a suhr modded Marshall and blackstar is just the front line elsewhere/not this clip.

To me the tone is nothing special and honestly I’m not a fan.
