If my state had acted in that way I would've definitely divested myself and split. I was already making plans as they dialed up the heat so I was prepared.

I sold 10k worth of inventory in the early 90's because I did not want to take the chance hauling it through massholechusettes.....that's when I moved back to WV from NH.....I think it was 1 year in prison and a 10k fine per firearm if caught transporting through there. fuckin commies...lol

how does it compare to New York laws? When I lived in New York people complained constantly about not being able to carry their guns where they wanted to. I can't say I've heard anyone talk about it here in MA. Then again I kinda live in the sticks where people still have gun racks in their trucks.

I really have zero idea. I'm in a totally different situation now. I can legally carry or transport anywhere I want...except of course schools, courthouses, airports etc....NY is a prime example of NYC making policies for that state whereas there's a lot of country folk and rednecks(for lack of a better term) up there. Supreme court is finally making decisions on a lot of these 2A issues affecting that state. There's also a big difference culturally so it's understandable how they feel about guns.....I guess. If you did not grow up with them, or hunting was not part of your lifestyle-plus you have no experience....and all you have been exposed to is misinformation-then I can see why you don't like them. Just like that cunt Behar on the view....she basically said if you shoot a deer with .223(ar-15) you can't eat it because it destroys the meat so much. Dumb cunt. Usually only kids use a .223 or even a .222 around here to hunt with. I grew up using a .243 then an .06. I guess with her logic I could have shattered the planet with that 30.06......

Personally, I think the whole 2A thing needs a complete overhaul. It has kind of become the Paris Hilton of the constitution. Where as she is "famous for being famous", a common argument for 2A still being a right is that it's a right.
I've certainly lived places where I would have felt better with a gun under my pillow, so I am in no way in the "ban all guns" crowd, however as 2A is written at the moment is completely out of touch and does more harm then good in 2023 IMO.

The idea is that it codified a natural right of self-defense. If anything, it seems that it should be strengthed, wouldn’t you say? Society and the people in it have changed, not the gun or the right to defend oneself.

The Constitution guarantees free travel. There's no exception to that guarantee if someone wants an abortion.

The law does not make it illegal to travel. Period. If you travel and don’t do anything illegal when traveling, your travel is unimpeded. The constitution gaursntees free speech, yet I cannot threaten to kill you. It allows for me to own a gun, yet I cannot use it illegally. In each of these case it combinations of specific criteria that needs to be met. That exact criteria is spelled out in the law, and nowhere does I say the single act of traveling is illegal.

i think in today’s world it is much more about personal self defense from other citizens, yes. I think target shooting is fun as hell so I get why people want to own them “recreationally”, however I doubt any self defense specialist would recommend an AR-15 for self defense.
If the government started a war on it’s people, no one’s gun collection is going to keep them safe, nor if the government called on it’s people to fight in a war, would they ask them to bring their personal weapons.
There is certainly an argument to keep guns legal, however I think today, has very little to do with what is written in 2a.
I think now more than ever things like the 5th and others that help people through the legal system are much more important and vital to keep us safe from overreach than owning guns.
